Game Thread! Clemson vs Pitt

Capel not doing a good job adjusting either! The whole dribbling around the perimeter for 25 seconds on every possession allowed Clemson to play with confidence. Mainly why game is where it is. This is a team that is 1-6 on the road in ACC play. They aren’t good! Coach/players/staff having a bad night!
He has very slow feet and weak legs

This loss here tonight will officially end any glimmer of NCCA Tournament talk for Pitt. This is gonna be a killer loss to a team that has been terrible on the road in the ACC. They needed this one tonight badly. Very disappointing performance for Pitt tonight.
Just a dead night all the way around. Waited until they were down 20 to wake up. Shooting has been terrible especially from the line. Can’t close out their shooters. Crowd not very into it. We have no depth whatsoever and when the whole team isn’t on together it shows. I was worried Clemson was going to be an awkwardly bad matchup and it turned out to be true.
Gotta shake it off and get ready for Saturday. Still some big strides this team can make this season.

Getting boat raced by Clemson at home is a bad look. Pitt is in dire need of a legit point guard and big men. Oh, and some shooters.
Anyone who thought there was even a glimmer of hope for the NCAAs was kidding themselves. The reality is this is still a rebuild and while the team has made strides they are still young and offensively-challenged. Tonight was just a clunker. Struggle from the get-go.

This loss was a killer for Pitt’s NIT chances as well. This program is better and improved this year but still not all the way back yet. They need more size inside and giving up the 3’s the way they do is just not gonna get it done. X and Trey with an awful game tonight. These guys need to step it up and be better it’s time. They both are just too in inconsistent and selfish more times then not.
I hope he realizes he has a LOT of work to do before he can even think about playing in the NBA.
If we play like we did tonight, we may only have 1 more win all season. People can say that with the exception of the FSU game, every game is winnable. But it’s more accurate to say that with this team with it’s poor defense and selfishness at times, every game is more likely to be a loss. And the lack of rebounding is alarming. This Pitt team is way too inconsistent and selfish to even think about the NIT yet. They have a lot of work to do.
Clemson came in shooting 31 percent from 3 point land and tonight they shoot well over 50 percent from 3. Getting blown out by a sub par Clemson team by 20 points at home is embarrassing.
I think the Clemson equipment person could have gone out there and flung up a nothing but net 3, underhanded.
20 of those looks didn’t have a Pitt player within 5 feet

No way this Pitt team is an NIT team. For the NIT, you need at least 19 wins coming out of the ACC, and we won’t be getting 4 more wins this year, sad to say. Very disappointing.
Would it be so damn bad to approach things differently when we play a team with a really good post player? Why not let Simms get 30 or 35 pts even instead of allowing 3 point shooting practice to the opposing team? The last two losses we simply got torn up from 3. Notre Dame was a good three point shooting team, Clemson was not.
We turned a garbage three point shooting team into marksmen tonight. Other teams players eyes light up and normally players who can't throw it in the ocean are lights out confident. We have been doing it all year and I am getting damn tired of watching 3 point shooting practice.
We all know we can't win if we don't play well defensively. That is this team's strength. It is time to change the approach when we play a team with a great low post player.
Oh yeah, one more thing. When we do get the occasional wide open shot we clank ours off the rim or shoot an air ball. Its really tough to win when you are at a serious disadvantage from the three point line.

Not to pick on one guy, as pretty much everyone stunk, especially our guards, who have been shooting horribly, but Eric Hamilton is one of my least favorite panthers of all time. I just don’t see what he does well to garner the time he gets. Might as well let Couilbly learn out there. That missed bunny he had when we got it inside 10 was the ballgame. It’s like he gets super nervous every time he touches the ball. I’ve said it before, and he seems like a nice guy, but there’s a reason he’s never been a big contributor, even within lesser conferences.
Hughley and Jeffress if they land him can’t get here soon enough. Both of those guys will change this program around I believe and make Pitt a top 25 team next season. X and Trey need to be better period. Both are still very selfish and stubborn and very immature. Having two guards like them that don’t like to pass and can’t shoot is a bad combination.

Yea Hamilton was terrible tonight. And like you just pointed out when it was 53-45 he had an easy lay-up that would have cut the lead to 6 at 53-47 but instead Clemson gets the ball back and hits their shot and goes up ten at 55-45 and Pitt never recovered after that.
