It doesn't look anything at all like the early Dixon teams.Where the heck has this defense been all season?? Looking like the early Dixon teams for a change.
I meant the results - tough hard nosed, blocks, 1 and dones. It doesn't look anything at all like the early Dixon teams.
The early Dixon teams played exclusively man-to-man defense and never, ever, ever, ever played zone.
Tonight, Pitt has played almost exclusively zone since the first TV timeout.
The results might be similar, but that is where the similarities end.
If it works though, I would't mind this zone becoming the new signature Pitt defense. Personally I thought the 2-3 zone was starting to look awful when we tried it lately.
Agree. Making shots is the downfall to any zone. They just look much more aggressive in this zone as opposed to the 2-3. I find that somewhat encouraging. If Miami starts making shots this will look awful too. Guards penetrating too easily.
No credit for the steal, of course. How did I know he wouldn't convert that steal.
and have...Up 5 on the road. Pitt came to play. Can't complain (though some undoubtedly will![]()

He's 1-for-2 today and no turnovers. He and Wilson are working good together. Why can't you just acknowledge success?
It's ok.... you can criticize him when he plays bad. But is it impossible for you to recognize when he is NOT playing bad?
Sorry man.............JROB has been awful........not much better tonight Not sure how you can sugar coat it
What would you like me to say about him? Played good defense, no threat offensively. Wish he would have converted that layup. Happy we are up 5. Luther playing great, Wilson has given us good minutes.and have...
Does anyone know what defense DeMatha primarily played when James was there? Personally I think he looks fantastic defensively tonight.
I still don't understand why that last shot wasn't a three. McClellan's last step was clearly way behind the three point line. It doesn't matter that his body was over the line in the air when he shot it, it matters that when he left the ground both feet were behind the line.

Yep, just watched it again. Definitely a three. Have to think they'll correct that before the 2nd half starts. Miami will ask them to review it again. He flew so far in the air, they must not have even considered looking at where he took off from.
