On top of the db's though our coaching staff looks moronic right now by not even blitzing at all.

Again these long plays after plays are the result of mediocre recruiting. None of Pitt's players in the secondary other than Whitehead would be playing for the top teams. Especially added that Pitt had no pass rush. Just pathetic.

It's a shame all those highly recruited freshman DB's are not good enough to play. Gundy made very good use of watching game film on us.
If Hamlin were healthy I don't think there's any question that he'd be playing right now. Whether he would've the first two weeks or not, he'd most definitely be in at this point in today's game.

This last drive, pass rush wasn't the issue, he would just throw it up in the air, hell, not even looking , just throw and we were burned and they catch them

LOL... I suspect that it is harder than you think, especially in man to man coverage. You turn your head for a split second in the middle of a double move against receivers with 4.3 speed then you are burnt easily for a touchdown. The receiver knows when and where the ball is going. The DB does not. He has to read the receiver's hips and hands.

At some point you have to know where the ball is, however. You have to turn your head and find the football or you will either get beat every time or pass interference will be called on you more times than not

PSU would have done the same thing to us last week had they thrown deep all game. Pitt has to change their defensive scheme, man to man press isn't conceivable with the talent we have

Sure. But that is why people who can do this consistently are paid millions of dollars a year. Freshman abs Sophomore are typically not very good in this type of defense that Narduzzi runs.

Also the QB usually has to be pretty good and the offensive line giving good protection to get those balls down field in the right place over fast corners.

You almost have to try to be this bad. No excuse for anyone to repeatedly get beat this bad.

Maddox again...

Giving up 3rd and forever is our specialty on D
Who recruited this bum? I was even looking at the "rankings" for next years recruits and most are 3 stars. Not gonna get to the next level with mostly average talent.

Hope Wade is watching the extreme needs in this secondary. Man, these guys can't cover their shadows.

Gundy the offensive guy is "workin" Narduzzi so far with 340 yards. He might hang 650+ yards on us today.

Maddox's entire problem is looking back for the run... He did it on the first TD and the play they just showed before commercials now...

I disagree, if you aren't able to play the ball as a cornerback in HIGH SCHOOL why would a Division 1 school give you a full scholarship to play the position in college?

They need to blitz LB's too. This will get even worse without pressure, and it's pretty stupid to think you can do that with only D-Lineman all day today.

High School??? All these kids were great in high school. Most of these guys could run over through and speed past MOST other high school talent. High school has nothing to do with this.

to get recruited as a cornerback at a major Division 1 school you would think you would have to show the ability to play the ball on fly routes run by wide receivers.

Yes.. And I'm sure everyone on that field demonstrated that against high school talent. That means nothing against teams full of guys who were also stars in high school. Some of which will be playing on Sundays. High school does not mean much if you can't translate those skills to the next level.

No way you could overturn that. Not to mention they gave Barkley a TD last week that wasn't even as close as this.
