Mel Kiper Draft Projections - Pitt

Bet on him not being drafted or not playing better for Dallas than Dinucci?

I just don't know if he is going to get drafted, and if he does, it will be because he came back for another year.
Either, but my initial response was about the idea that KP would have played better than Nooch did in that one game. Not defending Nooch, but I don't think any marginal rookie QB would have done much better in that situation. Dallas is a disaster, and that night was their low point.

I watch a ton of it, more than I should. Played D1 as well. I see QBs across the country every week that stand out, some at smaller programs. I think I know what I'm looking at. I'd say Pickett is in the average-above average range. He's not real bad, he's not real good. let's put it this way---there aren't many opposing DCs losing sleep at night worrying about finding a way to keep Pickett and his high powered Pitt offense from beating them.
Personally, I think Pickett is good but they's an obviously whole other level of arm talent when you look at a Trevor Lawrence or a Sam Howell in comparison. In no way is that a knock on Kenny.

People would just destroy Tino for taking sacks his senior year, but the OLine that was left over after all the turnover was horrible.

Turtle, er, I mean Tino's problem was the at least once or twice a game he was good for that play where he'd roll out to buy time and then when he didn't find anyone open instead of just throwing the ball ten yards down field and five yards out of bounds to get an incompletion he'd step out of bound ten yards behind the line of scrimmage.

You do that once and you can chalk it up to a brain fart. Do that over and over again, like Sunseri did, and, well....

I don’t think most people realize the fallout from the DiNucci start, it literally made the Cowboys national laughingstocks. Local radio in Las Vegas couldn’t stop talking about how he was only on the roster because of “cronyism“ with McCarthy and had no place in the league let alone seeing action. When the owner feels the need to come out and put a guy like DiNucci on blast in a radio interview it’s pretty clear he felt the same way.

I would be willing to wager anyone that DiNucci isn’t on an NFL roster next season and never takes another snap.

Pickett’s a great pick for a team that already has a QB but needs to at least start thinking about the future.
He’s the type of guy Mike Holmgren use to take in the latter rounds and develop for the next 3 to 4 years and then either trade or have him step in as the next starting QB.

Pickett has solid size and athleticism. He has a decent arm, good mechanics and can make throws outside the pocket. He also has 3+ years experience starting in a pro system. He’s shown that he can execute at a high level, just not consistently. Some team will see him as fixable and pick him for his potential. If he gets with the right staff he could have a nice career.

I think that fans project a lot of the ineptitude of this offense on Pickett. That isn’t quite fair because other than a couple drives against UCF last year and one at BC this year, it has been apparent that the offense has been much much worse during the times he wasn’t in there. That wasn’t just ND either. It was Austin Peay and Delaware too.

Usually it all depends on the work outs and measurables. It’s not really at all based on production. If KP mysteriously grows 2 inches he will rise in the draft.
