Muth!

The pecking order of what is and what is allowed to be criticized in Pgh is pretty clear. If he’s Muth the former Iowa Hawkeye, he’s getting decimated today like all the others who sucked. But …he’s from somewhere else.

While the local Steeler media continues to bash Pickett, pretty much crickets on how the 2nd round pick of Pat Freiermuth might not be a good one. It's only one play, but only one person brought this up and not part of the traditional Steeler media brigade

He's playing his way into a below average second contract. He's at best a TE2 in every average TE room in the NFL.

The Steelers needed to invest a lot more into the offensive side of the ball with a 2nd year QB starting.

Fn horrible effort! I thought picking him in the second round was a mistake - he may make some catches here or there but he's just as Joey said...he's a TE2 at best.

Porter got away with pass interference on the final Browns play yet praise has been thrown at him from all sides for such great coverage. I wonder what they would have said if the ref saw the jersey grab and threw the flag? Probably blaming the ref for such a ticky tacky call

I don't know that he's a TE2 on a most teams, but perhaps closer to a bottom-half TE1.

The problem is that every starter we have on offense is in the bottom half of the league at their respective positions. Maybe Pickens is, or could be, an exception... but that's about it.

he's Zach Gentry but shorter.

our '21 draft class

1; Najee
2; Muth
3; Kendrick Green
4; Dan Moore
4; Buddy Johnson

on a positive note, i think Loudermilk in 5th rd is working out and our punter didnt suck on monday night..

Muth is very athletic and can make great catches. Blocking leaves a lot to be desired. I think they had more needs at that draft and shouldn't have picked him so high.

He and Najee were an attempt to give Ben one last hurrah with some added weapons, but the team wasn't nearly good enough to be in that mindset.

Bashing Pickett? Dude he kinda sucks right now. He was taken as a 24year old 1st rounder. This is why the average joe is "bashing" him.

With that being said - "baby gronk" as the nitters used to call him is just a jumbo WR. He's not a TE.

Baby Jesse James.

But I do find the college allegiance Steeler drama to be highly entertaining. I hope we take Donaldson, too, so we can have more WVU input.

Exactly 💯 but the NFL is about fan appeasement nights.

They called less than that to determine the Super Bowl outcome.

cant argue that but some if not most of the blame should be on watson. If that is a catchable ball and not 5 yards out of bounds, the refs probably call it. but him hitting the fans in the first row made it an easy 'no call'.

It’s honestly a pretty good hit rate in a draft
a RB who is irrelevant, a tight end with one catch this year and is top 5 worst starting TEs in football, green isnt even playing football i dont think and moore has been graded as the worst starting tackle in both week one and week 2..

buddy johnson isnt on the roster.

yeah, great class for sure..

It's going to be tough to assess KP8 with this supporting cast being so bad.

DJ is a WR3
Muth is a TE2
Harris is RB3
Oline is complete trash at this point

Stillers offensive hope is Pickens is a WR1 or WR2, Austin is a WR4 and Warren is a viable RB2. Hopefully, Jones and Washington become something.

That leaves roughly 8 spots which need upgraded to just have average talent around KP.

coming from the expert who told us only months ago that Kendrick Green was a good pick..

yeah, im the yinzer.

No QB would look good with this current OL play. Dan Moore is the worst starting tackle in the NFL. My guess is that they were waiting until the third game before sticking Broderick Jones in there rather than feeding him to the wolves. Canada needs to move to a more power running play action game and give Pickett more regular progression reads.

Very easy to prove this is a lie -
Since there is a search bar, fake news
Ya mean a 3rd rounder who contributed immediately?
Just like Moore Jr?
I get the yinzer is strong in this fanbase - but a bit of rationality helps at times

I’m fine with cutting mitch , Jackson, along with Jack for cap space

I mean but with Green it’s about $900k, cutting him is only because you don’t see him as a backup even .

We must be looking at different sites Jameis Winston has a $15.6mil cap hit this upcoming season .

That's probably an average draft for an average team. Muth is a mediocre big possession WR being used as a TE. The Green situation was always a mess. The team never really put him in a position to do anything but fail, similar to Pickett last year. Moore is and always has been a slob like almost every other OL the Steelers have drafted over the past 15 years. There is something very wrong there. Harris is a solid to average RB that anyone could get much later in the draft. Loudermilk is solid to good. Not a bad draft, just mediocre

the "kendrick green is a good pick because he started" hill that souf continues to die on is so perplexing but i love it, it's so easy to mock.

keep up the good fight

Muth is a decent receiving TE. Can't block at all. I hate picks like that. It's the 2nd round you should be trying to find a stud, not a complementary piece who might be the #3 option on a good offense at his peak.

The Steelers taking "pro ready" guys lately has me souring on that entire concept. Najee Harris was "pro ready" I guess- he was a finished product that product sucks. I put Kenny in that boat too. He was a reach where they drafted him. For being "pro ready" he sure has a lot he needs to work on, and he has below average tools to work with.

This recent draft was a nice change of pace. Jones, Porter and Washington are all high level athletes that need some refinery. The bust potential is high but if they hit they will be stars.

Almost no QB is pro ready. I don't care how experienced they are. Kenny can be a solid QB if the team around him just improves. I think they will figure it out of Canada allows them to.

i dont know. it makes no sense. on the one yard line too. maybe some former OL player or coach on here can explain this to me.

it looks like some kind of half assed zone blocking scheme at the worst possible moment.

The offense is trying to be too cute. I'm sure there is a dumbass reason like "they were trying to execute X but the RT accidently thought it was Y and the RB ran the Z instead of R" yadda yadda yadda. Just block forward and jam the ball in. Cute is hard to do in the NFL.

but yet no one in the Steeler media questions that pick in the second round. Let's pile on Pickett some more.
Because Pickett hasn't done much of anything at all, I'm more of a Steelers fan than a fan of Pitt graduates, to me he better start performing and stop missing passes or I want someone else sooner rather than later. It's not all Canada or the O line, Pickett is missing on a lot of throws and making a lot of bad decisions.

And once we get to the pro level I don't care about the Pitt vs Penn State stuff at all, I will love Nitters on the Steelers roster and be indifferent to Pitt guys who play for other teams. If a Pitt guy is playing for another team vs. the Steelers I'll root for him to be destroyed, even if it's at the hands of a Nitter or Hoopie Steeler.
