Now, can we PLEASE fire Dixon?

Yeah, but aren't we at a point when simply making a tournament of 64 teams is "good enough." Jamie is just too tight in the tournament. He's not going to change, I'm afraid...and neither will the post-season results.

I don't disagree that his post season results are "tight."

Not sure what didn't make sense. But you are angry. Rightfully so. Have fun trolling, you earned it tonight with our performance.
Copy and paste name calling, please.
And are you a mod? hehe. That would make sense.

They were playing 4 against 5 with ANO in the game.
No comment on Ano vs playing without him... Overall we held Wisc FG% to a number we should be happy with... Just saying those guys were in a position to win and they didn't take hold of it. How many unforced turnovers or empty possessions were there in this game... Especially to close the first half...

The old me would play this game with you, not now. Have fun with it. You'll need to find a new dance partner though. Ciao.

Nope.
Trust me. I was very displeased with how he coached tonight.
But a coach who just made his 11th tournament in 13 years isn't going anywhere.
What have we done in the last 5 years DT?? What kind of coaching was that tonight DT?? Inexcusable.

I'm an objective observer. Jamie's finger prints are all over the decline of Pitt's program. Has not recruited a PG to replace Robinson in 4 years (players like Epps, Wilson etc are laughable). James Robinson is the sad poster child for Pitt's mediocrity. Please tell me Young and Artis are leaving. I read an article about Young growing up in the tough Duquense neighborhood. Obviously, none of street toughness rubbed off on him. Too bad he didn't spend any time in a gang. Obviously, his time at Shady Side Academy influenced his development. Young is soft! Artis is a mess. Never developed in 3 years and is the worst fundamental player in D 1, 2 and 3 college hoops. Most High School kids have a higher basketball IQ than him

Dt is a great guy and a "true police". (True fan). And he's right you can't fire Dixon.

But you can hope, pray, and beg he leaves on his own because his best years are in the rear view and getting harder to see.

I was not happy with Dixon's coaching tonight, especially his placement of Nelson-Ododa.

But I do not believe he should be fired, and consider it fairly absurd to think he should be.

The thought on this board however is that is coaching... I disagree... Soft in -> soft out... We traded high iq, gritty, basketball players for long, athletic, jump shooters ... Finding that it is a bit harder to coach awareness and heart

Hey....how many games did you make this year? Do you have any clue how much that I pay for club seats just to watch them "under-perform"? I don't live that close, so this shit is getting very tiring!

Perhaps his best years are behind him. I hope that's not the case.

It is the case. He underperformed when Pitt had much better teams in the postseason and I don't think you'd disagree. Now we are 74th in recruiting with no end in sight, the past 5 seasons have been pretty mediocre/bad and his in-game coaching(although never a strength)has gotten considerably worse. Oh and don't forget his bizarre substitution patterns.

I don't understand why you are such a Jamie fan. I respect your insight but sometimes a change of scenery is best for everyone.

Who did this trading? Seriously? It is ALL on Dixon, no matter how you look at it.

Where were the recruiting rankings when we were making the rounds of 32? Rankings are only worth their salt on measurements that affect half the game of basketball... After enduring two years of these softies but higher ranked players we should all come to grips with that

Perspective on what, DT?? What is there to look forward to in the coming couple of years?? It's not like we have a top 15 recruiting class coming in and we can give Jamie a chance to show us - we have a 74th ranked class coming in!! We are regressing and Dixon and his staff are a big part of that.

I don't think he will, others will. But he is certainly digging in deep tonight.
I like DT a lot on here but I just don't understand his "perspective" on a coach that is on a significant downswing, not the other way around.

didn't Lunardi make a wisecrack at Dixon last week, saying either he was happy or should be happy to still be employed?

Yup and bashed him on ESPN radio last week for like 5 minutes, mostly the RPI gaming but threw a few cracks at Pitt's decline.

Unfortunately, he has about 7 more years ob his contract, I think. He's going no where. Unfortunately, there appears to be no signficant improvement in the team in sight unless either our recruiting or philosophy changes.

But, thank goodness the JRob era is over. The weakness of having the most offensively inept Pitt starting point guard since whenever was really glaring today.

I don't think there is one incorrect thing he said I his post. It's about being a Pitt fan not a Jamie Dixon fan.

Perhaps my response was more about his overall lack of perspective.

I understand displeasure with Dixon, but it is not time to fire him.

It isn't time to fire him. But imho you're showing as little perspective as he is. And I respect the hello out of you. He will NEVER recover from this. It's about foresight now. You thought recruiting was bad before? He's going to get more stubborn, dig in deeper just like his fans.

Perhaps you are right that Dixon will never recover from this. Or perhaps he will.

Maybe he'll get more stubborn, or maybe he won't.

If he doesn't improve, he'll end up no longer as Pitt's coach.

That hasn't been established yet.

That's perspective.

Jesus everyone, chill out. DT doesn't deserve this vitriol.

Sure I do.

I refuse to say "Dixon sucks and must be fired!"

Funny thing is, there might not be a single poster who screamed Dixon's name in vain more than I did when Nelson Ododa returned to the court following the under 8 TV timeout around 5:45. I mean, I screamed and swore so much that my 10 year old son ran upstairs because I was scaring him.

Still doesn't mean I think Dixon sucks and must be fired.

It has been established. 1 win NCAA tournament win in the last 5 years. Hasn't made the sweet 16 in 7 years.

He hasn't improved and he remains the coach.

You never stay the same you are on the up swing or the opposite. Recruiting rankings last 3 years 69, 90, 76.

You aren't showing perspective it's more like denial or naivety imo

I rarely criticize...but the reality is that Jamie's tournament resume is flat out awful. "Highlights..." include, the end of the Butler game...getting outclassed by Greg Marshall and Wichita State in the first round several years ago. And now, tonight. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result."

You summed it up Bob, good points and sad points.
