We all knew that the Pirates could not keep up that torrid pace. The most important thing is the club shows improvement, especially the young players. Right now, they don’t have enough hitting to keep pace. Hopefully the return of Cruz along with a couple players in AAA and the addition of Dylan Crews will help…

IF they can hang around .500 this will be a successful season.
Get more young guys up mid season and get ready for next year.
Deal off Santana and Vasquez and Hill and maybe Joe for prospects at the deadline and keep building.

I think I counted 6 times that Sheltie told the third base ump he loved him .
What was the explanation for the missed balk the night before?

I won’t blame the umpires for game 2’s loss…but it’s safe to say they impacted all 3 games.

Looks like they might be crashing back to earth ..
Cutch out and the D looking horrible the past few games ..
Toronto's no slouch ...

This is hard to watch .. o_O
This lineup wasn't murderer's row to begin the year, now with so many guys out, they're down to the bone!

Don't understand Shelton resting two starters so early in the season. Especially Hayes. He's a youngster! Long season, but the lineup is so weak with Cutch out.

Hill is using all his guile and craftiness but you don't expect him to toss shutouts. He needs run support, and this team is starving at scoring runs right now.

Suwinski has to get going.
Shame because they started so strong, but the air is coming out pretty fast now.

This kind of post usually is good for a giant rally, so we'll see if it works.

Well they need someone to replace Vinnie Velasquez. They took Ortiz out after three scoreless innings last night, so it's easy to think that they did that because he's heading for the starting rotation in Pittsburgh.
Kind of a shame though because they'll be feeding him to the wolves with that patched together lineup.

Not only has the hitting gone south, but the fielding and baserunning is coming up short as well.

Their roster was very vulnerable to injuries due to the age and shallow depth, and those chickens have all come home to roost at once.

Anytime Mathis is in the lineup, or either one of the catchers, there are two huge holes in the batting order. With Hayes being mostly a punch and judy hitter, and Suwinski being an automatic out, as well as no contribution from the current middle infielders, that lineup is probably the worst in baseball.

The injury to Cruz really hurt, and now Cutch is limping, maybe showing his age a bit.
They are in a really bad place right now. IDK if they would consider bringing Endy Rodriguez up soon? Not sure if any other position player is ready for the big time at this moment?
They definitely need help!

Yep, what's left over from the injury storm is pretty bad.
Bullpen is useless because by the time they get to them, the game is out of hand.
Getting blown away in the first inning of games, before they can even bat, not that they CAN bat!

On the bright side, Milwaukee is tied 2-2 in the 3rd with San Fran. I can’t recall the last time a team went on this type of skid and didn’t lose any ground in the standings.

So many rally killers in this lineup.
Any time Pirates get someone in scoring position, you can count on one of the many stiffs in the lineup to K or ground out weakly.

So predictable it is almost comical.

Imagine where they'd be in the standings if they would just play .500??
Central division is beyond pathetic.
3 teams rebuilding and 2 dying of old age!

Castro playing like Fidel, and he's been dead for 20 years!

Lots of errors, and automatic out at the plate.

The Braves used to have a saying "Spahn and Sain, and pray for rain!"
With Pirates now, just pray for rain!!

somehow still in 1st. NL central looks weak this yr. Cubs and Brewers are also 3-7 in thier last 10, like us. Reds are 14-19 and cards have the worse record in the NL.

The Pirates hit start was fools good. They are reverting back to the mean which is a 90 loss team.

the worst division leading team 5 games over 500 I have ever seen. One more week to stay over 500 for the season?

They need to right the ship against Colorado the next few nights.
If the skid continues, who knows how far they'll sink???

Guys help me out…

Last year there was a Hispanic Pirate pitcher throwing gas. I didn’t pay much attention because the team was so bad, but I remember being intrigued by the heat he was throwing. Who could it have been? Which of these guys throws 100+ ?

Or was it Ortiz?
