OT: Pro Women's Golf

Or its the best time to play. If you're a real man and dont cry about the weather, you get an open course because fat sweaty pigs are afraid of the heat
A real man would have enough pull to get an early tee time, unlike the peons that play midday. A real man is lounging in the pool, or having drinks and playing gin at that time.

I simply find it amazing that there are not many Americans that are competitive on the Ladies tour.
The Asian invasion has really taken over the tour and pushed out the former top players. Is women's golf
now so unpopular that only marginal players are now coming up through the ranks? How can the top 20 Korean women be light years ahead of the top twenty American women?

I don't know but this will eventually kill the ladies tour. Look for less and less tournaments in the US and
more in Asia as part of the LPGA schedule.

The answer is simple!

In the US if you want to be a professional golfer you start out as a kid with parents who encourage you, sign u up for lessions, drive you around, get you to golf courses, enter you in junior golf teaching programs, take you to tournaments, bring you to a place to practice, and spend a TON of money and time doing all of this.

Only a few can afford all of this!

Plus in the US most if not all play in U programs so if the player doesnt get a schlorship tuition is another cost. Great womens golf programs at the U level are limited as well!
In S. Korea, China, Australia, Spain and other countries kids are entered into national programs at a young age at no cost. The kids are evaluated and the more talented players move on and up thru the national program.

The kids in these program do nothing but play the sport sponsored by the national program. Other countries Austria, Italy, France, Swiss, and others have a similar program for skiing and others for tennis.

In the US to excell at golf, skiing or tennis requires wealthy , dedicated parents to keep the kids moving along in the sport!

Plus in the US kids are kids, they're not in national programs at young ages and have lots of distraction!

Great points. However, your first paragraph also describes youth baseball and youth soccer these days in our country. It also describes volleyball and Lacrosse.

Not only the sports you mentioned add youth football, basketball, and wrestling. . And the US is good at all these sports because of the inexpensive youth programs. Golf, tennis, hockey, swimming require lots of parental involvement, and money or you go nowhere!

FYI- Where we live in Eastern PA there aren't any volleyball or lacrosse youth programs at this time but I'm sure they're on the way since those sports are becoming more popular as youth interest in football declines.

Ummm....I would think there are more wealthy parents in the United States than Korea or any other country. So Mr. Simplistic, don't think that is quite the answer.
