Panther-Lair Pandemic Fantasy Draft Conversation & Dialogue

Between Chevy and Jaron, you are not going to get out of a game against my guys without scratching and clawing for it.

Fun way to spend the day. Rounds 4 through 6 is where the trouble's going to be.

Thinking a bit more about Lamar...

Do @thirteenNINE @DT_PITT or any of the other plugged in guys know what happened with his pro career? I know he was grinding it out in the G League and he got some run with the Hawks. I remember him getting called up and it looked like he'd get some good PT before he suddenly just disappeared off the map.

The really weird thing is that he had just signed a contract with the Hawks to play the rest of the season, and then a few days later it was announced that they had come to some agreement where he would leave the team. My guess is that there was some sort of issue in his personal life, but that's just an uneducated guess.

Nothing concrete on my end, just that Atlanta released him to deal with something personal on short notice. He's been playing well in Australia and Puerto Rico since then so he can clearly still play but he probably won't get another shot in the Association, unfortunately.

We should get input from BFo8 on who would be favored in a hypothetical game. He used to be an odds maker in Vegas. Make things interesting.

Wondering what people think of my philosophy of building around tough, versatile, Dixon type WINNERS that fit together. I have sacrificed points for this fit. And of course Advanced stats monsters all.

PG/SG Carl Krauser 16.0p/4.8r/5.9a/39.4% from 3/ 4.4 win shares
C/PF Talib Zanna 13.0p/8.6r/59% from 2/ 5.4 win shares
SF/PF Gilbert Brown 11.3p/4.4r/2.7a/41.3% from 3/4.4 win shares

Was surprised Brown stuck around this long. Figured he wouldn’t last all the way to my pick, but he was gonna be my guy if he did.

I’d put those three up against most anyone.

I was eyeing Brown with my upcoming pick. Excellent 2-way player.

Thanx Chaggy. There are higher scoring and rebounding players still available. Hunt the single big seasons.

Solid. Real solid.

There are two versatile players I’m stumped aren’t picked yet

I agree. I thought Gilbert Brown was the best fit for what I am trying to accomplish with my team makeup & culture. But it was a hard decision, considered Porter and a couple others, kinda agonized over it for a half hour actually.

Also played in China.

So far liking my team -- very versatile and rugged, everyone can do a little bit of everything with a really good strength to each one.

SF Audiese Toney 6'6 210 (19-20 Season) 9.5 PPG 4.8 RPG 1.2 SPG 1.2 APG 51.5% FG 32.8% 3PFG 2.9 Win Share

Toney would fit well on those classic 2000s Pitt teams.

Big difference, and while it played to JB's strength then, it also play's to Toney's future is that JB is 3-4 years older than A'udiese at the same time of their careers.
Also (as the proud coach of Jaron Brown) it’s important to note that for purposes of this draft, Brown is listed as a “SF/PG”, while Toney is a “SF/PF”.

Was going to try to get Chris McNeal and play Young at the 3 but ....
my team so far
Pg ..Ronald Ramon
SG ..Jason Mathews
SF...
PF ..Michael Young
C..

Not to be a rebel , but upon thinking about this draft there’s a huge advantage for those drafting at the top of the order . It’s not like professional sports drafts were the teams drafting first have the least amount of talent . Seems to me a fairer way to do this is a reshuffling after every two rounds .
Would you rather have the 1, 32, 33 picks or 16, 17 , 48, ,49 ?

You grabbed Trey who was the combo guard Who was overlooked
I was a little surprised at Trey's relatively mediocre advanced stats. A .121 WS/40 as a freshman (worse as a sophomore) was surprising, and the Ortg/Drtg split as a freshman is just a little above average.

The big question there is how Trey would play if he was on a Pitt team where he didn't have to be the guy carrying a huge usage load. But that's a bit of projection.

Points , rebounds , assists , and steals
Seems like a great fantasy pg to me

Yeah. His advanced stats weren't overly impressive. But given the other PG options I think he was the clear choice.

So for those of you with pre-Howland Pitt knowledge - what's the skinny on Jason Maile?

Before my time - numbers show that he shot the hell out of the three, though.
