Paging @recruitsreadtheseboards @DT_PITT and @NCPitt and others for my Jason Maile breakdown.
He was a pure shooter who I remember going off for 40 against Nova. The mid 90's are the dark days from me and Pitt sports. I was young, single, moved to Greenville, SC and pre internet days......so there is alot football and basketball wise that I really didn't pay attention to with Pitt. And that was a good era to not pay attention.

I'm also curious which one year you guys are picking. Feels like for most of these guys, it'll be their senior year, but for some it's a tough call.

PG: (SR) Jaron Brown - 11.7 ppg / 2.8 apg / 5.4 rpg - 53.4 TS% (5.6 WS, .181 WS/40)
SG: (SR) Antonio Graves - 9.2 ppg / 2.4 apg / 2.1 rpg - 54.2 TS% (40.2 3pt%, 2.9 WS, .112 WS/40)
SF:
PF: (SR) Chevy Troutman - 15.0 ppg / 8.0 rpg / 1.5 apg - 61.8 TS% (5.5 WS, .248 WS/40)
C: (SR) Ontario Lett - 9.7 ppg / 4.9 rpg / 1.2 apg - 60.9 TS% (5.2 WS, .312 WS/40!)

I've gone senior year with everyone but Gray, who rebounded better as a junior.

I really thought about going with Chevy's junior year - he was more efficient, but the 15/8 line as a senior was too much to not pick.

I took Gary McGhee , now my team has a tough strong guy in the middle whose going to get the tough rebound , set effective screens and be able to hold his own inside physically with Blair , Shorter , Lane and Smith . Of course I’m talking about the senior version of Gary .
I can remember going to Greentree to see Pitts big time recruit Donte Taylor and I watched as McGhee just manhandled both Taylor and Zanna and every other big guy inside . While he’s not the NBA star like a Smith or Adams he has been good enough to play professionally in Europe since he graduated .

Probably the best defensive player in Pitt history no matter whether you want to go by the numbers or by the eye test. Kind of got off to a slow start in Europe and had to play in some lesser leagues but ended up carving out a really nice career for himself.

I was definitely going to take him if Ski had grabbed Champagnie and ruined my plans.

McGhee is, unfortunately, one of those guys whose enduring memory is of the One Bad Play, and you ignore the aggregate of two years of really good center play.

What would be interesting, is if this draft was actual on potential and how they ended up, how would it go???

I suspect Charles would be #1, but Adams #2? Cam or Jerome #3? Vonteego? Dejuan? Mark Blount? Sam Young? Brad W? Mobley? Who would be the top 10?

I like Gary as well, but it’d put a few guys during the Howland/Dixon era ahead of him. Jaron Brown, Julius Page, and Gilbert Brown could defend multiple positions.

I mean, it's a fun argument to have because the 03 and 04 teams were the best defending teams in Pitt history but how much of that credit goes to Brandin, how much goes to Julius and how much goes to Jaron? Because they would all be in my top five Pitt defenders ever but there's a lot of noise when you try to isolate any one of them because they were all so good.

I was thinking of a different big who had a single season that was better. Though overall Donatas had a better career.
Now I'll have to think - I figured with Zavackas banging home 44% from three on decent volume that he'd for sure be the guy.

Don’t quote me on this but I believe (I think) there are only 3 other players on the list who did what this guy did in a single season. Now the one I’m talking about is no where near as good as the other 3...

So is everyone going strictly by the positions that are listed on here or is there some flexibility. For example) A guy listed as a guard/forward on his bio at Pitt could play the 2 or 3 on our team even if he is only listed as a 3 on this list of players.

I have a meeting at 3pm. If my pick comes up I may be delayed...but I won’t be long.

Gotta go by the list to keep things fair. Naturally feel free to appeal, I have the positional breakdown of the past 20 years by minutes played per position so it would be pretty easy to adjudicate most of them.

Mike Cook is listed as a guard/forward on his Pitt bio. I think he should be considered a SG/SF on here, but is only listed as a SF.

Mike Cook is an easy one, he played 48 games at Pitt and started every single one of them at the 3. So he's definitely not a guard.

My team so far:

PG - James Robinson 10.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 5.0 apg
SG -
SF - Clyde Vaughan 21.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg
PF - Chris Gant 10.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg
C - Jaime Peterson 13.9 ppg, 9.4 rpg

One thing is for certain, we are going to rebound the basketball.
