Pickett to the Browns.

I feel he is the starter game one. The Browns want Watson out and Watson has zero interest in playing a down of football after getting a huge guaranteed payday. To me, this is the perfect strategy for Cleveland. Make a guy on a rookie deal your starter from day one and and let the chips fall where they may. Kenny either has a rejuvenating season like Baker or Geno Smith and his career is back and probably gets a 5 year deal. Or he completely sucks, they lose more games than they win, pull the plug late and tank for a rich QB class next year. HE WILL START.

I'm rooting for that guy and hope to wear a Browns Pickett Jersey to a Steelers game (if they are doing well and he's playing of course)

Oh I can. POS organization. That's why Fields bolted. It's a 1 year deal for a dude who knows the Steelers defense and the AFC north. Plus, they still have Watson so he will be competing with him and probably a rookie. Who knows maybe he will start a few games and get a Fields type contract afterwards.
Wait, Fields got a 2 year deal worth $40 million, including $30 million guaranteed. Impossible. I was assured by joeyexpert that nobody would sign him over league minimum.

He's a big fan of bumping old threads, maybe he'll bump the one I asked him to bump when Fields signs for significantly more than his number.

Glad the Steelers didn’t pay for it

Who is going to start ?
Watson will likely miss most the season following the Achilles tear
They are still looking for a vet bridge presumably. It might even be Russ. But they are saying Kenny will compete.

I would love to see Kenny start there and then hand it over to their rookie #2 pick. But it is appearing unlikely if we are to believe reports out of Cleveland.

Why do people call DTR by the acronym? Like, you should have to earn that. He's not Kevin Durant, where everyone knows who you mean when you say "KD." If we didn't play him in a bowl game and somebody told me Pickett got traded for DTR, I would think you were telling me he got dealt for naming rights to some WWE wrestler's finishing maneuver.

At least Kenny already won a Super Bowl. So, he has that going for him. I don’t think he’s ever going to get that chance with Cleveland. Starter or not.

He has a better chance of starting for the Browns than a lot of teams he could have ended up on.
I don't know . Stranger things have happened ..
But with the 14m the Steelers signed him to and what he got from Philly and now the Turds . I think he's got nothing to worry about honestly ...
Still wish he was Steel in the Burgh though ...

So it was a couple browns beat writers who were saying the browns aren’t done yet trying to add a starting QB…but then there’s this.

Pickett is going to rival Ryan Fitzpatrick for most teams played when it’s all said and done. He will probably have a 15-year career as a backup QB.
Josh Dobbs got another gig today and a nice paycheck. He has to be up to 7 teams now?

That’s a tough one, then. My heart says Kenny. And I’ll justify that to myself by saying he’s quite a bit younger, and therefore has more potential for the future.

There. I said it.
I mean, with the benefit of hindsight, we should have kept him.

Although with the benefit of hindsight, many would say we shouldn’t have drafted him.

Here is a question.

Russell, Rodgers, or Kenny?

Who would you take if you had the chance to acquire any of them?
I think I would try to sign Rogers to a 2 year deal if the price isn't too crazy. That would gives us this draft to fill a number of holes with the best player available and not worry about drafting a quarterback. They could do the same in the next draft as well. If they do decide to draft a quarterback in 2026, so be it. Presumably, the OL might be decent then.

Is Darnold not an option? I may prefer him over Rodgers just due to Rodger's age and the still crappy Oline. Of course, Darnold and a crappy Oline is probably not a path to success either.

I just don't want to draft a QB until we learn how to block no matter what. I have seen enough of Russel to know he is not going to be the answer and the Kenny ship has sailed.

A quiet rebuild is about the best we can hope for. We are committed to stupidest streak in sports.

Kevin Colbert was not good at his job
Colbert started in 2000. draft classes when he actually called the shots were pretty good. Drafted guys like Hampton, troy, Ben, Heath, Santonio, Timmons and woodley, pouncey, heyward.

All great first rd picks. but then tomlin started complaining to organization, demanding more say in the draft room. and of course Rooney bent over for DEI Mike and gave it to him. hmmm, how did that work out for us? (See above)..

now we dont even have a gm, we gave the title to our accountant because no real GM would want to come here and be Tomlin's assistant. and here we are, begging a 41 year old to not retire and be our qb.

Yep
It’s always about Tomlin

Buddy - we don’t have a real GM because the owner is rolling Pennies
And Colbert was here until 2022 and made all those picks you listed . Including Kenny
Cant have it both ways

Rooney has enough money to hire a GM, no one wants to work in an organization that gives 95% of the power to the HC because he checks a box.

Colbert wasnt calling the shots at the end, everyone knows that. you Dont let the GM be a GM, he "retires" and looks for other work and you have to hire internally because other GMs dont answer your calls.

Rooney has enough money to hire a larger coaching staff Z
Has enough to lure top front office personnel .
Guess who Tomlin answers to ?
You don’t seem to get the actual correlation , still .
It was from Dan to Art.
Who can fire Tomlin? Himself ? Who extended him (

Where is Colbert working ?
Took a job as a consultant for Colorado state this year after not working for 4.
Guess every other nfl team has HC making the real calls , too ?!?

Your theory doesn’t hold any water. Mike T is the most active HC in the NFL in scouting. It’s his passion. And you actually think Colbert foisted the QB of the future onto Tomlin knowing that was his last draft and it would be Tomlin’s cross to bear moving forward and not his? That’s kinda laughable.

i dont even know if this is sarcasm or not FK, sorry man. if so, im missing it. if scouting is his passion, he needs to find a new hobby because he freakin sucks at it. Hey, Golf is my passion, im still on the wrong side of 80 every time i go out there.. loving something and being good at it are two entirely different things..

I dont think Colbert picked pickett as a revenge move to tomlin, although the more i watch kenny play, the more likely it seems lol. but no, i think Colbert was an actual GM for the better part of his career, had a decent amount of sway in the war room come draft time and well in the last 10 years or so, not so much anymore.

You can see it in draft results. You let Tomlin call the shots cause Rooney caved in to him, gave this guy all the say with drafts and Free agency, a guy who has no business doing it, well the results speak for themselves..

It was soo ridiculously apparent when they had to hire an internal accountant as GM. Again, no way a "Real" GM comes into this situation so you give a new title to Khan the accountant, a little pay bump and you tell him to know his place in this organization

Tomlin’s involvement in scouting is said to be tops in the league. It’s what he’s known for in coaching and league circles.

And Colbert wasn’t seeking revenge. They got along and were like Butch Cassidy and Sundance. But if anyone thinks Kenny was Colberts pick and not Mike’s, well, I have a plot of beachfront property in northern Greenland to sell ya.

if he's so good at scouting, why does he suck at it? im not even kidding, he's known for his in league circles? But there is that little thing of actual results that dont really help this mindset..
