1) Signs an NIL deal allegedly at 2 mill per year

2) Underwood at Michigan and Beck at Miami are making similar cheddar

3) Now, This kid's "team" wants more NIL money...looking to negotiate a new deal.

4) kid has been AWOL at UT spring practice

Stuff like this amuses me. If the fanboys dont pay, its possible UT goes say, 6-6. All the donors who threw in are now pissed and some will withhold more money. SOME....not all

If they do pony up....the financial arms race just continues....and only further accelerates the demise of our great sport.

In one hand, I regret Pitt is no longer a serious player in this house of cards.

OTOH, i am happy we arent part of this at this insane level.

Iamaleava? He's a-leavin'!

If Pitt would get into this swamp, I'd quit being a fan. NIL has already ruined the real sport of college football. It is now only a minor league for the corrupt NFL. There is no reason to root for a team with players doing this.
They’re in it by default but to a lesser degree. Addison was in a bidding war to some extent and it’s a matter of time before a Pitt player holds out.

And you’ve been “threatening” to quit being a fan for quite a while now. It’s likely only to get worse so….✌️

Is it me, or does he look like Goofy? I know he definitely hasn't been worth that type of money. Nor has Beck if that's an accurate figure.

I mean what can go wrong with a bunch of unsupervised, pampered, egocentric teenagers with millions of dollars and no rules?
Yeah, one of them might get married but start banging a student and shower her with gifts and a high-paying job, then get into a motorcycle accident, exposing the affair to the world but not before lying about it to police.

That sounds like it would be really bad. Let's hope that no players ever get caught doing something like that!

Very true. However, Pitt did have a situation with Davon Hayes that was similar. He signed an NIL deal and shortly after, wanted to renegotiate. They gave him more money and then he wanted to renegotiate again. He was told to hit the bricks...

If a Pitt player sits out for more money after signing an NIL deal, then Pitt should tell him to get lost I don't care who he is.

Forgot about that but this supports my point. Pitt is in it. How deep in the slop they want to go remains to be seen. But I agree. Anyone who pulls this crap, see ya.

Good for Tennessee to move on. They got to the CFP through a great defense and elite running game. Frankly, Iamaleava was not good when Tennessee played a team with a pulse. They’ll find somebody better or equal in the transfer portal.

I hope Tennessee doesn’t look this way for a new QB. Though they will probably go for someone more established and/or even higher pedigree. But some school is about to get kicked in the stones

Depends on what the contract says and how they were getting paid. However they will not be allowed to sue because a player quit the team, because the contracts are not allowed to require play for pay.
Certainly depends on the contract wording, but if a player promotes a competing brand, could be viewed as a breach.

Fair enough...I don't pretend to be privy to what's in these contracts. What about if a player opts out midway through the season
To your point, that is how ridiculous the NIL contracts are set up. Any normal Contract would be based on production. Hopefully “donors” see what a waste the NIL contracts are and stop giving.

I’ve already quit being a fan. I take an occasional peek once in awhile.

Tennessee basically kicked him off the team earlier this morning
Tennessee AD Danny White fed this narrative to his national media buddy Pete Thamel to save face.

There have been concerns about Nico being a flight risk since December. Apparently, this situation had been brewing behind the scenes for some time, escalated the last two weeks, & the On3 story just brought things to a head rather quickly. Had that story not broke Thursday night, Nico would have played through the spring game, headed back to the left coast on Sunday and hit the portal when it opens on Wednesday.

As noted in the thread, this is all Nico's dad and his handlers. While team Nico was trying to get a bump in NIL pay to $4 million, it wasn't all money that was their concern. The dad supposedly isn't a fan of Heupel's offense and doesn't feel like Tennessee surrounded Nico with enough talent and weren't aggressive enough in the portal.

All ready there are schools that have told Nico do not apply USC ND. and Oklahoma. Coach Prime when asked if he would be interested in Nico replied “we good”
Who’s holding the bag now Nico?

It is only a matter of time that players hold out from playing postseason games, i.e., blackmailing teams.

Hopefully Tennessee has set the precedent for these spoiled brats and their parents. If you think you can do better elsewhere then go. These types of players ruin team chemistry and the locker room. Not what you want on your team.
