Shell cut already

I'm not a fan of Shell but that is kind of classless for a Pittsburgh media figure to gloat over a local kid being cut.

Not at all!!! In fact it should be put there showing kids that mj isn't a reasonable recreation if you want to succeed in life. Shell thinks his herb is more important than football. It cost him his Pitt scholarship and now it is costing him a chance of big NFL dollars.

I would like my young kids reading that story

To put it bluntly (no pun intended) that is bullshit. The Steelers couldn't wait to get Bell and Bryant back from their suspensions. Shell's lack of work ethic and training no doubt cost him, and weed didn't help, but there are plenty of successful athletes that smoke.

Besides, that isn't even my point. Shell may be a lazy dope but he is a long way from Pac Man or Chris Henry. As a Pitt fan I get rooting against him, but for a media person to do so when the kid is local isn't cool.

There is plenty of evidence that mj is a more reasonable recreation the alcohol.

Honestly, I think that is bs too. First, the media can do want they want, Shell isnt a kid, what is he like 23? And what is bad about portraying getting stoned when you are supposed to be a world-class athlete as a negative? People shouldnt even smoke cigarettes. Unless you have some debilitating condition of chronic pain, its just not a good idea, and not good for teens looking up at these guys.
I PROMISE you the Steelers would totally prefer the no reefer... from those 2 guys. They lost a bunch of money from their suspensions, if you think otherwise youre a moron. Of course they wanted them to play, because they are good at what they do. I am sure Shell would be good at what he does too if he put in more work, he is a big fast dude with agility, you dont need to be smart to be a RB or WR.

It is tad sad and ven more bit funny, but Shell just felt he should be entitled to playing instead of just doing his best to earn it. I really wanted him to succeed with the Steelers, but not up to it. I read where he was boasting in the TRIB he ordain himself "Rush The Bus" and talked and talked all about himself?????
Compared That To:
Pitt's James Conner whose comments, "I Really Have To Work Hard To Make This Team."

After you compare both Players Quotes just ask yourself Whom Would You Want On Your Team?

TRIBLIVE QUOTES & SHOWBOAT ALL ABOUT ME:
Rush The Bus Boasting & Busting In The NFL:
“It was a chance to redo what I didn't do when I was here,” Shell said.....“It's like a good reminder,” Shell said of being back on the South Side. “I was eating lunch in the cafeteria yesterday, and it was like I was back at Pitt...“It's just a good feeling.”.........“People feel like I left my hometown,” he said. “It wasn't that. It was something I had to do for myself and my family. Now, I'm here, and I can show that I want to represent my hometown.”......“It's a legit opportunity,” Shell said.........Like the 233-pound Conner, Shell is a power runner, using his 5-foot-10, 227-pound frame to break through tacklers. As a kid growing up in Hopewell, long before he set the Pennsylvania high school rushing record, Shell patterned himself after the Steelers' Jerome Bettis. He gave himself the nickname, “Russ the Bus.” “I keep running into you until you don't want to tackle me anymore,” he said....... “I'm a physical guy,” he said. “I don't mind going down and hitting someone.”......Shell understands fans might resent him for leaving Pitt. Asked what reaction he'll get if he plays in a preseason game at Heinz Field in August, Shell said, “probably 50-50, some booing, some cheering.”.....No matter the response, it won't change Shell's mind about signing with the Steelers. Four years after leaving, he's back home and admitting the biggest change isn't the surroundings or the uniform colors.....“Just me as a person,” Shell said. “Growing up and raising my children, I got a lot more mature and understand what is right and what is wrong. I feel like I'm in a good place.

The Rush Bust Has Left The Building Right Now No Stops In The NFL Until That Attitude & Effort Changes By Working Not Boasting & Excuse Making?

VERSUS:
Jame Conner TribLive Quotes:
"It's a dream come true," Conner said on a conference call with reporters from Erie, his hometown. "I'm forever grateful for them for giving me the opportunity after everything I've been through..........."I know a lot of teams were scared, but they gave me the opportunity of a lifetime, and they are going to get a great person and a great football player, and I'll give it my all for them." ........"I was getting a little antsy and a little worried because I know my talent level," he said. "I saw some other running backs go before me. I'm different, and I know what my talent is."............He said he sensed some teams were hesitant to draft him based on his past. "That's just what I thought," he said. "Me personally, I believe that what I put on tape is right up there with the best of the best." .........."Obviously, Le'Veon Bell is the primary running back," Conner said. "He's one of my guys and good friends. He's put the work in and proven it. He earned (the right) to do what he does best. Whenever I come into the game, whether it is special teams or anything, I'm going to make sure to give it my all and help the team anywhere they need me.".........Conner said he was injured on the first day of the team's rookie minicamp when he “tweaked” the hamstring during a drill..........Asked when he expects to return, Conner said, “I wish I knew. I'm trying to get healthy every day.”.........Instead, Conner has watched several undrafted running backs get practice reps along with veterans Knile Davis and Fitzgerald Toussaint. Conner is using the inactivity as a learning tool........ “It's nice to have these vets out here, watching them compete and watching how they practice,” Conner said. “It's nice to learn from them.” “The first thing is to get healthy,” Conner said. “But I also want to show them what I've got, so I'm taking it day by day.”

...he is a long way from Pac Man or Chris Henry. ...
But maybe they can play and he really couldn't, lot's of high school studs never make it pro. Talent is what matters most. You can be PacMan and play 10 NFL season, because YOU CAN PLAY.

Exactly, both those guys have/had so much talent that not only could they play through their issues, but teams were also willing to overlook their problems.

Shell never had that kind of talent

I think he peaked that freshman year at Pitt. He never did much at WVU. His name was never out there as a top RB.

Strange but True, here is Shell that broke Hopewell's Tony Dorsett's Rushing & TDs Records in High School and all of Pennsylvania and now Cut by the Steelers then there is Conner that could have stayed at Pitt another year and broke all of Tony Dorsett's Records at Pitt & NCAA and chose the NFL and ends up on the Steelers, where Tony Dorsett wanted to play too in 1977?
Good Luck to Both!

Two Players with much Potential and Not Drafted and signed as Free Agents which is an indication both have a long way to go to make the NFL Team.

Shell came and gone even when Steeler's need Running Back back-Ups?

Orndoff not drafted due to this being Tight End Year With 10+ TE Drafted and remains to be seen if he makes the Steeler's Team?

We shall see, but right now we know on the "Rush Bus" was a Shell Game, we shall see if Scott has the Right Stuff?

Scott will play in the NFL, Just a Hunch!

Shell brought Madden's wrath on himself. Said he was a coke-head and other things on twitter when madden said pitt was right to get rid of Shell because of his off field issues. He deserves whatever he gets from Madden because he's genuinely a punk. He was lucky to even make it to Pitt with his behavior issues

Ahhh I could not remember who initiated the old Twitter fued. Shell is also the last person who should call someone out for using drugs. Don't throw stones...etc.

I'm not advocating the benefits of smoking. I'm not even denying that it can hinder one's health or training. I am saying that it was not given by the team or even Madden as the reason Shell was cut. Even if it played a part that isn't the real reason, which is that Shell just isn't in shape or talented enough to play in the NFL. Bell and Bryant are and the team no doubt was upset that they got suspended but will also welcome them back with open arms. So using Shell as some example for why kids should not smoke marijuana is pretty hollow if you are going to cheer for Bell, Michael Phelps etc.

He was never very good to begin with. Peaked in high school, and was overrated then. He has good ability for his size, but lacks speed (slower than Bettis) without the power and toughness larger backs need to make up for it.

Tyler Boyd?? No idea if he partakes... but I just did a quick google search, and no MJ was found on him during his arrest. Was there something I missed??

Normally I'd agree that it's pretty rude. But Shell is definitely to blame for his lot in life. He had a great opportunity and completely blew it. And he acted like a jackass and humiliated Pitt in the process.

I don't wish him complete life failure, because I don't need to be paying welfare for him and his kids forever and its not the kids fault that their father is a jackass. Hopefully he is willing to get and keep a job.

But he is solely to blame for his athletic failure... and solid citizens everywhere should be happy he failed. There are already far too many assholes living sweet, sweet lives they don't deserve solely because they play a sport well, can lipsync to an auto tuned pop song adequately, or simply have nice hooters or an inordinately round posterior. I honestly don't begrudge decent people who live well for such things, all power to em... But lazy drug addled jerks, sorry, not unhappy when they tank.

Don't feel too bad for Shell. He'll always be able to get free drinks and pot in Morgantown and Aliquippa. He'll always be big time there.

Absolutely. And Shell has a long way to go to reach Pac Man's talent or rap sheet.

That is why I edited my post to remove his name. I misremembered his DUI arrest.

Regardless it isn't as if none of the Pitt players we root for smoke.

Plain and simple Shell lacked work ethic. I wish him well in whatever lazy profession in which he can excel. His immaturity and entitlement type attitude did not play well in the city, but fits right in with West Virginny. He will surprise me if he can gain a foothold in the CFL. Good riddance to the "Mountaineer"
