Stallings to be announced as coach

No. For real... Why do you not like the guy? Are you basing it totally on your bias as a Pitt fan and Stallings blocking Jeter's transfer?

As of 24 hours ago, Stallings wasn't even on the interview list.

This would be a panic hire because others turned us down.

Barnes would have made a worse hire than SP hiring Mike Haywood.

Actually the only panic I see right now is the hysterical panic on this board over a rumor that could very well be bogus.

The difference is that Zeise is reporting it too.

And up until now, Zeise hasn't been reckless with this kind of thing.

I've always laughed at people who threaten to abandon the program if a certain coach is hired.

No more. This is absolutely one of the worst options Pitt could choose. Guy is a bad gameday coach, has a shitty personality, and has never really been able to win at all. Age is a disadvantage as well.

This is one of the very, very rare instances where message board posters know more than the administration.

Here's the Zodiac, oh excuse me Coach Stallings, threatening to kill one of his own players.

Just a winning personality.

Pitt fans should revolt regardless of if he's hired that our AD would be so braindead to even consider him.

LMAO. I hope you are kidding. So you really think that was a legit threat to kill one of his players. I appluad the guy for attempting to teach some sportsmanship. So now you want to tell me how awful the guy his because he drops F-bombs?

Wait aren't you being accused every other day on the football board of being a Penn State fan? No wonder you want us to have Stallings.

No, he's awful because he's a horrible coach, and because Pitt would be hiring a guy that Vandy would be willing to pay a ton of money to fire.

When the entire internet is like, Stallings to Pitt is great for everyone but Pitt, maybe there's a problem.

He's old. He's not a recruiter. He can't even win in the SEC. He's a jerk. He's checks none of the boxes other than he looks like a cross between Kevin from bye office and the zodiac killer.

And what does Zeise always say about job searches. EVERYONE IS LYING which to me means that Paul's sources are no better or worse than anyone else's.

Poker, remember how people used to get tired of you positing stuff about Dixon, that will be me x1000 if Stallings is hired.

I'm praying this is a smokescreen and Keatts is the coach.
Well I am praying you are right but if it is Stallings, you won't have to worry about me criticizing any of your posts for 2 reasons.

1)I probably will agree with all of them and

2)I won't be around to read them. I can't come on here as a fan to enjoy Pitt basketball with a guy like Stallings ruining the program.

SP was entirely hamstrung by the budget of a MAC program. Barnes has a top 15 salary at his disposal.

Zeise is sort of waffling on twitter as the night goes on.... questioning if intentional false leak or if source confused.

Td...do you defend all things from vanderbilt?

Haha. Nope.

Look, its not a hire that I would be happy with either. I would much rather have Bryce Drew. HOWEVER, if you really want to break it down, I'm not sure there are tangible reasons to believe that any of the other candidates stand out head and shoulders above Stallings at this point.

He's sure as hell not a splash hire. But Pitt could also do a lot worse. He's certainly better than all the venom spewed his way tonight.

And FWIW, I'll wait until he's officially introduced before I totally buy that KS is the guy.

He has done worse than Dixon at Vandy with the SEC wide open for him. He is a real bad coach. It would be a disaster with no upside. Bubble tournament would be the absolute best case every year.

Probably because the more he thinks about it the more he thinks that Barnes can't be that stupid, can he?
This is what keeps me sane right now. The thought that, as Barnes is getting ready to watch 4 ACC teams tomorrow, he can't possibly think "I want the same for Pitt and I'm sure the goober from Vanderbilt will take us there."...can he?

You would hope if Stallings expressed interest in the job Barnes would have told him "thanks but no thanks." Just being linked to Pitt lowers the prestige of the job let alone him being THE guy. Hope they plan to move in another direction, but not feeling too good right now.

No one at Vandy agrees and they cannot wait to get rid of him. He is a bad coach.

A bad coach? Not at all. Its not like he's Ron Jirsa or Richard Pitino. He is to Vandy what Jamie was to Pitt at tougher place to win. He's been to 2 Sweet 16s at Vandy and has an SEC tourney championship. 7 NCAA appearances and Vandy has only been to 14 in their entire history. He also put Illinois State on the map. He's not THAT bad.

He only made 7 tourneys in 17 years... .in a pathetically weak conference.

He blocked Sheldon Jeter from transferring to Pitt out of spite.

He's 56 years old and on the downside of his mediocre career.

This would make the Paul Hackett, JM2, and Mike Haywood hires seem like homeruns.

AWFUL decision.

He really is and he has been awful the past 4 years. Dixon is light-years better than him. Stallings has absolutely no upside. The Pete would be empty every game.

The SEC hasn't really been wide open. Most of his years at Vandy, the SEC was divided into two divisions and the East was usually pretty good with UK and Florida. Tennessee also had some pretty good teams under Bruce Pearl.

The upside would depend on recruiting. Vandy has to travel the globe for players. Its a very difficult place to recruit.

Paul Hackett is an excellent comparison.

The SEC has been wide open behind UK the last 4 years. He has been awful, after being mediocre. He would be an absolutely pathetic choice and Vandy would be ecstatic to get rid of him without paying anything.
