I would have went vanilla today, benched any starter who is banged up, and went all in for Wednesday. No way we were winning in Baltimore without Pickens, Jackson, Larry O., etc.
Plus you'd have a leg up on rest for Wednesday.

I know what you're ultimately getting at is that Kenny Pickett should be the starter right now. I'd beg you to take that opinion to 50 NFL front office employees. Show them the tape of the last three seasons - both Russ and Kenny. You'd go 0 for 50, and I'd love to see the histrionics that would ensue each time.

I don’t think it would matter who is in the secondary. It isn’t like Mahomes has ever had issues against Mike Tomlin’s defensive genius.
Wilson and Pickett can both suck. Just bc someone thinks Wilson is sucking doesn't automatically mean they think Pickett would do better.

Regardless of Russ this, Russ that...they need to address QB in the draft next season. Not saying 1st round pick....but they need to do something. Russ very well may walk, he's not giving any kind of hometown or I like Tomlin discount.
Lol. Just saying Russell Wilson was dumped by 2 teams for a reason. If Arthur Smith can win games by running the ball and mostly short throws- he can win with a lot of QBs. That makes the QB largely iirrelevant (which makes going the old retread route pretty stupid imo).
What you are seeing, is the stillers can't beat good teams with this roster. Just like you have watched for a decade with multiple QBs.

We need a franchise QB period. Russ has done a good job for his age, but if they decide to run it back with him next year, they better go all in on building around him then. Get an upgrade over Harris, add another star WR. I like this offensive line, but they're not winning it all with this group...not without a young, hungry, franchise type QB (think Big Ben in '08).

Yeah I know you can't give the Ravens anymore of an advantage. It was a crucial mistake.
Who's to blame for that? How can they not recognize their weakness at WR? Azzbag Pickens will likely miss games next year due to not being able to keep his mouth shut.
So the answer is to punt and let ravens run out most of the clock, which everybody knew would happen. I didn't say it was smart, but it's smarter than giving up. Expect no less from Squirrel Hill Tomlin.
The Bengals, Cowboys, Jaguars, Chargers, Texans, Falcons, Rams, etc. all have that, and none of them are in better position than the Steelers. Wilson is playing just fine this season, especially given what's around him.
They need to work on building up the rest of the team. Then you can make it work with a Goff, Darnell, Wilson, etc. But if you want a QB who can put a team completely on his back, good luck. There are only two of them.
This game turned when the Steelers had short rest and the ravens have had essentially 2 weeks (bye and Giants)
I'm just happy we stopped them on 3rd and 11 and the declined holding penalty didn't come back to haunt us two weeks in a row as well.
