This fanbase deserves a terrible team

Capel knows what he is doing.
Does anyone, anywhere blame the fans for a coaches poor record over a 5 year span? The fans have little to do with it , particularly 25 or so on a dang message board. You have to be kidding?

Fans complain, that's what they do.

When given the chance to complain or be positive, most complain. And this goes for all fanbases across the country.

Fans though should never be blamed for administration failures. Pitt's administration has been doing damage to its athletics since Bowman forced Sutherland out the door in 1938.

Of course the fans played a role. There were hundreds and hundreds of posts on the Board complaining about Dixon even when he was winning championships. He was too controlling. His teams played too slow and too tight. Whenever they lost it was because they choked. The late Geno had a name for it that became a meme. Etc, etc, etc.

When Barnes held his disastrous press conference, that was what he talked about. Pitt was going to play exciting basketball. That was the idea he used to sell everyone on his move to force Dixon out and hire Stallings. Barnes and Stallings not only killed the program: they buried it. It was clear as day.

And all the Pitt fans still think Pitt is someplace special. Why? Look at all the great players in the tournament. Who wants to come here? Pitt is now a loser. We don’t have good enough players. They can’t make shots. Capel knows what he is doing. He wasn’t sitting next to K for seven years because he was learning. He was contributing to Duke’s program. He just can’t get players to come to Pitt to lose. Maybe they read the Board. The Board is full of posters who rag on players and rag of coaches and rag on one another. The extent of the negativity is astounding. Where are the informed discussions that used to elevate the Board? Lots of people from other colleges used to come to read our stuff. Now, not only do Pitt fans have the team they deserve, they have the Board they deserve.

Kenny’s right. I applaud him for hanging in there in this thread.
There are hundreds and hundreds of posts complaining about Capel and an empty Pete, but he's still coach. Stop being so dramatic.

There are about 10 fan voices that matter, and those guys aren't groaning on the Pantherlair BB board. We were screwed by Barnes and a few voices who write big checks. They guys watching on TV, or sitting in section 112, had nothing to do with it.

I do not understand the child like mind that people must have to sincerely believe that the “influence” of the 100 or so posters on this board caused the AD to seek to escort a coach away.

For the 10000th time. Fans complained, donors listened, and those donors got in the ear of the admin.

This is NOT hard…the fanbase is very culpable
