Tv Pitt/uva

This goes back to a generational chasm IMO. Some, presumably younger, sound extremely comfortable with the streaming structure, joining different services each week, maybe multiple of them, figuring out how to maneuver to specific content in them, maybe using it for 2 hours max (maybe less if the game is a dog), then going through the rigamarole needed to cancel them. Then figuring out how to pull the same for the next X away games (maybe home games also). The cheap bastid in me finds that admirable. The old tired coot in me finds that exhausting.
Definitely a generational gap and your above maneuver explanation shows that you're on the older end because the explanation is not quite accurate.

There's so much misinformation in this thread from different folks. I've given up and got tired of repeating the same thing for the past days and correcting folks.

I'm pretty sure there will be more misinformation threads like this as the game gets closer.

um, the millions that are necessary to run all the sports a college participates in come to the power 5 conferences through TV deals. I don't like it either, but, all the conferences have moved to this. Or, we could be in the AAC
If they where on TV more in the AAC, I don't care, it hasn't been great fun being in the ACC as a viewer, we had more on field success in the Big East in football and basketball, and that's what I care about more, I'd rather them make less money and not be a doormat on the field.

That is the ultimate of silliness. What is next, you wanting some service to pay you to watch the game?
No, I'm just deciding to not change anything over this, that's all, maybe Comcast will get it eventually and if not I won't have it-I'll live without it. I'm not going to change my provider or my personal budget over this. I've changed cable providers before, and it was an ugly experience, I don't feel like doing that right now, I'll just watch whatever games they have on the channels that I do have.

Fine - then don't complain and whine

Those funds promised to ACC members won't be available if they don't make the deal with outlets as big as Comcast. With Comcast having a presence all thru the east and south, that is a hugs chunk of revenue.

This is why I am confident a deal will get done. Hope it doesn't take months or years.
Comcast and Spectrum seem to have a deal going. Neither seems to overlap the other's footprint.

Kinda convenient to keep rates up, don't ya think?

I know it’s on acc network but will any local channels be carrying the game? - wtae etc
FWIW - I have Comcast out here in CA. Called them to find out status of the ACCN and the rep said they are hearing rumblings but nothing solid. In the meantime, I just signed up for Hulu Live TV ($49/mo). Super easy to sign up. Installed the Hulu app from the Google Playstore on my Android TV and Hulu streaming works really well. Tested the ACCN stream and it looks good. So for at least the first game, I'm covered under the 7 day free trial. We shall see after that.

Exactly. Which is why the ACCN needs Comcast more than Comcast needs the ACCN.
FALSE....the network projected to make their full potential revenue in year 3, when the cable contracts with ESPN will up. ESPN has the leverage because they will bundle ACCN in the contract with the rest channels.

Comcast is losing customers everyday. They can choose to slow the loss or do nothing and watch there customer rapidly decline. Viewers have more options now more than ever.

Sure, my address is 100 Art Rooney Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Feel free to come over for the game.
What do you want a medal for going? How about a hug? Trophy.... We get it your going... Some people are fans and it has nothing with going or not so quit being a pompous ass about going... Your know better fan for going

OK. So I signed up for You Tube TV. I can interface, but....how does it stream live? I go to it, and it is just like You Tube on my computer, just listing videos that I have watched. Where do you access the live TV channel lineup?

And it isn't just about Pitt game and going, I would like to watch Clemson/GT tomorrow night. So......if I go on You Tube, how do I pull up the live channels??

Hope you are right.

Spoke with DirecTV today. They are planning to enable online streaming for the ACC Network within the week. They have received numerous customer inquiries.

Did you cancel Comcast? You see, that's what I don't want, to add another $49/month to my TV bill.

Exactly. Which is why the ACCN needs Comcast more than Comcast needs the ACCN.

ACC and ESPN do not have Comcast or any other cable provider in their distribution/revenue projections until their master contracts are up. All major carrier contracts will be renewed by 2022. That is why numerous ACC ADs have stated time and again they expect the full revenue impact after 3 years, and all distribution targets have either met or exceeded projections.

This is also why the timing to launch was 2019, it was the beginning of the cycle for contracts to be renegotiated. If a provider doesn't pick it up now, they will whenever ESPN bundles the ACCN into their master negotiations, or the provider will risk losing ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, Disney Jr, ESPN 2, SECN, and any other channels under the Disney portfolio.

So it's possible Comcast won't pick it up for 3 years. Or I guess they could pick it up today. That certainly sucks.

Possibly(if that's when the master contract with Disney ends. I don't know if it's 2020, 2021 or 2022). But if there is enough pressure they can always pick it up earlier.

Looks like I struck a nerve. Are you trying to convince me or yourself?

I am actually getting the streaming to work on the ESPN app today via DirecTV login. Great news!

Not at all. I will be there like I have always been since 1988. I don't need to brag about it....don't need special recognition for it so again stop trying to be "Super Fan." It makes you are no more or less of a fan.

Glad to hear you'll be there. Since 1988 huh? Now who is trying to sound like a super fan? Take it down a notch.

Lots of options to see it. Not sure why there are those who are whining they can't

Dude, the options to see it suck. Get off your high horse. I’d be at the game if I wasn’t having a 6pm flight into Pittsburgh home after being up at 5 on 2 hours sleep essentially.

Pitt really dropped the ball on this. Not having any local coverage is a huge failure by the AD.

The AD can’t get local coverage since the game is exclusive to the ACC Network, it’s the same type of situation if the game was on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN News.
