ICYMI: The Hawks have signed Patterson

I would think this means... he has been given a chance to make the roster.

Most teams go into the season with more players than they are allowed... and the excess get cut before the start of the season. Sometimes their roster is completely filled with guaranteed contracts but they still sign extra players... and then cut them.

But, it appears the Hawks have an opening so Lamar has a chance there. Otherwise, he will probably return to Turkey (or someplace) for another year.

Kinda sounds like the TJ McConnell/Philly deal. My guess is its league minimum deal but if they dont make the team, they'll get that same money playing in the D-league and will be called up based on need. I dont follow the NBA all that much but it seems like maybe some of these teams have an extra 1-3 players that can go up and down between the D-league and the NBA but to prevent them from going to other teams, they are under contract of the NBA squad.

Blair is still under contract this year(15-16) with Washington (2m) with a club option for next year (16-17)

2015-16: $2,000,000
2016-17: $2,000,000 {Non-Guaranteed}
2017-18: UFA

Does anyone think he will play for the NBA squad and make the roster???

I hope he does as he was a great player for Pitt, especially senior year.

As to Blair, Washington should play him more than they do. He played pretty good for the Mavs 2 years ago.

Yes I believe Lamar will play for a NBA squad, if not Atlanta, he will be on another NBA team, some did not believe Lamar would go as far as he has, well the rest speaks for itself.

Congrats, Grandma. Glad to see you back and good luck to Lamar. I'm rooting for him.

I should say here that I have kinda followed Lamar since he first committed... being I am from NE PA and Lamar was from Lancaster which isn't NEPA but it is at least eastern PA and not Philly (Aaron Gray was from near Allentown and I also followed him a bit).

I think the thing that made Lamar into the player he is today... more than anything else.... was working his butt off before his senior season to get his weight down. He worked off something like 15 pounds and that made a huge difference in his game.

He had that nice drive to the hoop and the long reach layup... and also that step back 3ball and both of those things were usually unstoppable. In the game where Florida eliminated us from the NCAA Tourney, the Gator players were primed to stop both of these moves and I really got the impression that Donovan had done his homework and schooled his players as to what to do to stop these two moves. IMO that is getting a LOT of respect from one of the best coaches in college BB... Billy Donovan.

I wish Lamar the best of luck in his pro career. If he doesn't stick in the NBA there is still good money to be made in Europe and elsewhere.... but maybe he will indeed stick with the Hawks or another NBA team.

Will have to keep an eye on it.

Don't have a clue if he is playing SF or SG for the Hawks. Maybe he will make the squad and then I can watch a game or two and see for myself.

What is interesting here.... the Hawks had the top record in the east in the NBA and made it to the eastern finals before losing to the Cavs. The Cavs, then lost to the Warriors with two of their three superstars injured. So, one would expect the Cavs will be looking to go all the way this year but the Hawks.... will probably have plans of their own on that.

So, will be interesting to see if Lamar can not only make the Hawks squad but contribute to their goals.

Lamar was home this weekend, and we had a great time, we had a barbecue, and then we went out Sunday. He left to go to Atlanta last night, so we won't be seeing him for a long time. I have faith that he will make the squad, one thing I have known about Lamar all of his life, he has a determination ,, when he sets his mind to something, he gives it his all, probably takes that after his Grandmother. (lol)
