Interesting comments from Ole Miss’s Lane Kiffin on NIL on today’s ESPN First Take:
It’s Legalized cheating
Since it is a pro sport now, and pay-for-play, why not have a NIL salary cap like other pro sports?
Despite what conference commissioners may say, it’s 100% about money. None of this [realignment] benefits the sport or the athletes at these schools whose players will miss 2.5 to 3 days of school for a weekday game or match.
Interesting to hear an actual P5 head coach say these things out loud.
Also, I caught an ESPN documentary episode about college football on TV and was reminded how big the CFA vs. NCAA battle was, which essentially deregulated college football on TV with a 1984 Supreme Court ruling stripping the NCAA’s power to determine any restrictions on college football TV games.
