Last Four Years in ACC Play

It is interesting. I just don't get it. I just don't get it. Just like an email chain I am on with a group Pitt friends, and someone brought up after AD's dominant performance, we had AD, Boyd, Conner, DoJo, Biz, Savage, Peterman, etc...and for many of those seasons we would be 6-6, the best 8 wins. And then you look at the ACC record, and we are 2nd, yet until now, we haven't even been considered a contender.

Pitt football is a walking conundrum. It's why we have 3 more HOFers in waiting to go with our 8 total which puts us 3rd on the list, and we only had a 6 year period in the last 80 where we were truly nationally relevant.

It is confounding how we have not been better. As I mentioned in another thread, even friggin Kansas had a lucky season when they went 12-1 and won the Orange Bowl. How possibly have we not had one of those years in the last 35.

It is because we havent had any awful ACC Seasons... and all of those other teams have.

The stat line just shows us what we already know.

There is some mediocre football in the ACC

Which is why I say all the time it’s actually really hard not to have at least one special season during a 35 year span.

And Wake Forest, Baylor, Oregon State. Everyone but Pitt, Indiana, and Vanderbilt. I think those are the only 3 programs to not have a 2 or fewer loss season in the last 35 years.
