Now it is up to the fans.

that is why it is "up to" the the team and not the fans...ok, let's put it in terms of what really happened....happen to have any examples of packed house Game 1's where the coach chased away most of his roster and filled it with division 2 level players where everybody, I mean everybody knew going in the team would be horrendous? Not really a point of argument and Capel gets a year grace period at least, but win (at least improve and not actually digress as the season goes on like this year) and fans come.
Bottom line. If you make excuses for not supporting team then you are not a real fan.

I'm not saying they did anything that others don't. I'm saying, and it's been pretty well substantiated, that they did it more and better than just about everyone. Certainly more and better than everyone at the time. The were the gold standard of cheating in the 60s and 70s.
And considered one of the greatest dynasty’s of all time .

You’d agree the Steelers of the 70’s were one of the greatest teams of all time if not the best . Just about their entire OLine were juiced .

Absolutely. They cheated. The winning and the cheating were intimately intertwined. Just like they were for UCLA.

Edited to add, thanks for helping make my point. I'm not sure that's what you were intending, but you did it none the less.

Just saying the way it was and the way that is .

How am i hating by saying I like college sports better than pro?

You're hating by saying that people have .... "This ridiculous pro sports mentality continues to hold us back..."

As if, being a fan of a FAR SUPERIOR product is somehow stupid?

I take GREAT PRIDE in the fact that the Steelers TOOK ADVANTAGE and 'ROIDED UP and kicked everyone's ass BEFORE there where rules against it. If there are no WRITTEN RULES against something, then it's not cheating, Myself, I'd have a lawyer read the rule books and see if he can identify places in there where my team could stretch the rules without technical breaking them. Even with PEDs, I'd ask a pharmacist to identify legal substances that do the same job as banned ones.

It is never the consumer's fault when they refuse to buy your product.

Pitt is not only a university, it's a business. They throw around millions of dollars on coaches and facilities to produce a product for profit. It ain't the Red Cross.

There is no loyalty any longer in society. Coaches break contracts and leave for more money. Players transfer and declare for the NBA draft. All so they can make millions of dollars. Yet fans are supposed to spend their hard earned money to purchase a product that sucks.

If that's the case, then we should all purchase Pirate tickets to support Nutting...

Brains: I usually agree with you, but I respectfully disagree with you on this one...

So you're telling me that 20 losing seasons in a row is a "FAR SUPERIOR product"?
You have a very unique outlook to say the least.

the administration has stepped it up in a way that I never thought I would see. They have invested in coaches in both major sports and now it’s time for the fans to get behind both programs. As Coach Capel said “they will not make excuses”, so the same must go for the fans.

I am all in. Hope everyone else is to. No more excuses for not showing up.
I’m 100% all in

STEELERS.... PENGUINS.... RECENT CHAMPIONSHIPS, NO LOSING SEASONS SINCE 2003.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS 2005, 2008
STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2009, 2016, 2017

By the way, I HATE BASEBALL, so it never enters into my thought process.

The reason that I think the college situation is different is that it is very difficult to sell recruits on a half full stadium or arena when you are competing with full houses. College is more about atmosphere so fan support is critical and with a new hoops coach in place we can’t afford the have the Pete be a morgue.
