Islanders pulled goalie again with about 4 minutes to play and score again to make it 3-2 with 3:50 to play.
Anders Lee has deflected in both Islanders goals.
The Finland goalie was just incredible. He stole that game.
Beware. I mentioned that on the pensburgh blog and the know it all regulars attacked me. They also still think that trading for Karlsson was a good idea. Maybe they are all related to Sullivan and Dubas.
On a fence about that. I mean they were able to move Petry and another bad contract. But Mikeal Granlund has been pretty good for the Sharks after doing nothing here.
Puljujarvi cleared waivers, Pettersson back in the lineup tonight, Ned in goal ....... need to beat the Wings.
Puljujarvi has only played one game since 11/23/24, so maybe he can get some games in at WBS and be ready if they need him back up on the Pens ...... I thought someone would claim Puljujarvi, glad they didn't, he scored some with the Pens but needs to improve defensively especially without the puck ...... the Pens are 10-4-1 with Nieto in the lineup and Puljujarvi out so I think the Pens wanted to keep the same lineup but I agree, in the long run, if Puljujarvi can improve certain aspects of his game would love to see him get another chance in the lineup.
Again.....I have seen this act before. A Dec-Jan boost, then they crash and burn and just miss the playoffs and draft 14-15th. It is a conundrum watching them right now because I half want them to lose. Getting Petterson back is key, hopefully he plays well and ups his trade value, same with Rackell.
Pens-Red Wings tonight, but also USA-Canada in World Juniors tonight. Just saying if the CFP game becomes a blowout.

Jarry is ****ing useless. Terrible goal, looks like he was ducking and then almost allows #2 after a total gaff
Jarry was good before and after the goal and subsequent gaffe through 2 periods ...... great shot by Sid, he buried it, but OUTSTANDING pass by Rust to Sid to set up the shot ...... 1-1 end of 2 periods ....... Pens have to kill 1:57 of a penalty to open the 3rd period, could be turning point in game.
They have put in a pretty spirited effort this evening. We need to get a good result in the end.
Tomasino will probably be out for a bit. His legs took the full brunt against the bottom board when he lost his edge.
Geno misses the empty net, but is bailed out by Rakell late. Huge goal, they played to well tonight to not get a point!

Tough loss in shootout ....... had a lot of chances in OT but couldn't put one in.
Our shootout efforts are starting to get to me. Jarry was bad, but our shooters may have been worse.
I’m kinda torn over their play. It’s reasonably entertaining and provides the illusion that this is a playoff team. But I just don’t think this team will make the playoffs. They are just not that talented and Jarry cannot be relied upon down the stretch.
As others have said hopefully the good play will help increase the value of some of the players they need to trade to start the rebuild process

The 3rd period may have been the best period they have played all year. Good to get a point. But still, this feels like the last 4 years, make a run in the middle of the season, lose focus, lose games, finish just out of the playoffs, draft 14th.
What is going to be real interesting is if they keep this play up. They're bouncing on and off that last wildcard consistently....what does Boy Wonder do at the trade deadline.
