OT: Pirates Ke'Bryan Hayes a bust?

Raise it. 4 in a row!
Funny when the Pirates were like 3-18 in May you were nowhere to be found. When Hayes what hitting .218 you were nowhere to be found. That's typical for you though. And it would be nice if I didn't keep seeing random posts by you when I have you on ignore(thank heavens). Having your private messages still in my conversations is already tortuous.

I’m not speaking for Freeport, just for me. I’m just glad the Bucs are having success again and this include Hayes. I’d just rather revel in the wins than wallow in the losses. That’s just me, and to each their own, but I just don’t want you to think I was trying to be a jerk to you previously. Like I said, I just like to celebrate success.

It just shows your character that he came after you for no reason (other than being a nut bar) yet you’re being your normally classy self and still being the bigger man. You did nothing at all in that first post.

Appreciate the post. Yeah that's why I got upset at the time because I felt you were trying to dig at me like those other 2 clowns by repeating the word bust as he had a good night. I was surprised because I never see you act that way. I respect you a ton, much more than 2 clowns who look for any negative remark about me on here and then like the post and double down on it. You never do that stuff.

He's out of control. One strange puppy!
It’s like everything else this thread. Black/white. If you disagree with him he’s so thin skinned he can’t take it. Everything is personal. What’s odd is I’ve defended him on a number of occasions - especially when people were attacking him pretty hard with those polls he did. But he only focuses on any perceived slights.

I mean to go after DT for effs sake of all people on this board. Sheesh.

If I’m one of the folks you’re referencing here then you couldn’t be more off the mark. There’s nothing personal from my end. You come out with hot takes all the time and that’s going to cause people to disagree with you.

I do think it’s weak that you get pissed at @DT_PITT but also have no problem bumping a year old post from @thirteenNINE about a Miami transfer to try and play gotcha. Be consistent, my man.

You weren't 1 of the people I was referring to so you can take the rest of your post back now lol.

Something about Reynolds I’m not crazy about. He can come off as a jerk to me, unlike Hayes who seems like a good guy. Even last night, Hayes stayed late and signed baseballs for all the kiddos. Hopefully though it’s just a lack of charisma with Reynolds. But he is a better ball player than Hayes at this point.

Pretty clear to me that it is simply a difference in their personalities.
Reynolds is clearly not comfortable in the spotlight. He appears to be a private person. Even when he signed the contract, he did the obligatory press event, but clearly would have rather been somewhere else. He has a very nice young family and has expressed that he is very comfortable living here.

Hayes has a more outgoing personality. Quick with a smile and very engaging with the public.

Reynolds is a solid ML player who was much in demand by the Yankees, Dodgers, and Blue Jays prior to signing his deal. His HR totals haven't been great, but he isn't strictly a power hitter. He has been productive with runners in scoring position, and he is an above average outfielder.

The deal he signed was fair to both sides, just like he wanted. It is a deal the Pirates can work with and puts another piece in place for the future, which is finally looking up for the Pirates.

OK fellas, now we got Ke'Bryan going next is Brian Reynolds. GO!!
Pretty sure he is already going pretty good?
He's hitting right at his career BA, projects to 21 HR's and over 100 RBI's.
Not bad for a guy who just signed a pretty club friendly long term contract.

He's another solid piece going forward. He's always been streaky, but when it's all said and done, he ends up around .280, 25 HR's and 90 rbi's.

Just because these guys sign long term deals, it doesn't transform them into players they aren't. There is nothing magic about signing a contract.
The Pirates are finally putting some $$ into the ML team, and so far, they've been able to do it at very club friendly terms.

Hayes "bustin" a 3 for 3 day today!
Keep ripping him, he'll be MVP!!

Pirates clinging to one run lead in 8th. Probably went an inning too long with Hill, although he was fooling them pretty good all day!

Edit: June 10 K'Bryan Hayes Bobblehead night. Based on this thread, I hope the Pirates don't run out! Plenty of fans on here will be lined up!

Cars are stupid. Why own one if you don’t need it?
and therein lies the difference between blue America and red. Neither is wrong...........but it depends on where you live as far as its importance. For example, if I lived in some cool new bungalow in the Strip, I don't need a car if my career doesn't require one. If I am Freeport Panther's neighbor, not only do I need a car, but likely a pickup truck. Cars are not "stupid".

Keller has given up 10 earned runs in his past 2 starts.
As I looked ahead to this series, I wished Keller had thrown last night as the A’s were trotting out their best pitcher. Tonight is the night the A’s trot out their worst curtain jerker and I’d have preferred Keller not be wasted throwing against him. But it’s how it worked out.

So tonight is our best vs their worst. Should be a win. But then again, Vegas cleans up in situations like this.

Perhaps the most encouraging thing about this Pirates season, and them being in first place in June and all, they are doing it with 3 rookie pitchers in their starting rotation!!!
Think about that for a while.
And this isn't some offensive juggernaut backing them up.

Plus, there are pieces waiting to come up that are perhaps better than what is here!

AND, they've done it without Cruz most of the way!!

But yeah, they all suck! LOL

I think it's just a five game hitting streak actually, but in that time, he's raised his average from .213 to .242.
Guess I just got 1 game ahead of myself! LOL

I thought he had a hit in each of the last 2 games in SF, then each against the Cards, and last night? But come to think of it, it might have only been the last game in SF.
In any event, he's stroking the ball really well now. Even his outs are hit hard.
Last night for example, a screaming liner to right that hung up, and a hard grounder up the middle where they had the SS playing right behind second base.
Nice to see him hitting better, and his defense has been stellar as usual!

Raise it for your First Place Bucs in June (despite that being one very ugly game LOL).
Another weird thing, we're a third of the way through the schedule, and we haven't played Milwaukee yet!

Those series will be very enlightening this season. The Pirates have struggled mightily beating the Brewers recently, but this year the teams may be more evenly matched.

Hopefully they hold their own against the Brew crew. Meaningful games in the summer are fun and interesting.

I like baseball and I like the Pirates, but for so long (except 13-15), they were just so bad and you knew they going to be bad, so it was kinda pointless to even follow them closely. So I'm trying to enjoy this season for all I can.

For sure. It's been a long time since they had a team you could actually see contending late.
They have to stay healthy, but with Cutch there, and some of the other veterans, they seem well grounded.
Now we'll see if they are talented enough for the long haul.

Part of that is that the schedule is more balanced this year than it was in the past, because now every team plays every other team at least one series each season. In large part those extra American League games for the Pirates came at the expense of games against Milwaukee, St. Louis, Cincinnati and the Cubs.

Tonight I wish we hadn't scheduled the A's. Ouch!

Keller with a 7.79 era in his past 3 starts, 15 earned runs!! So much for this bum being the Pirates Ace. He's back to the old Keller.
