TD_Nitter loves him some Jimmy Franks, but the real deal nitter coach is Rhule. TD spouts about the great accomplishment of winning 9 games at Vandy, albeit with a schedule so easy that Thiel could have probably won 7 of them. But what Rhule did at Temple is truly outstanding. Temple was the bottom of the barrel...too bad for even the Big East! They had a small resurgence with Golden, but the BC coach had them going downhill again before he escaped to Chestnut Hill.

Rhule had them on prime time national TV against ND.....Temple on prime time! Back to back 10 win seasons. And winning the AAC with golden boy coaches Tom Herman, Will Taggert, and Tom Tuberville finishing behind him. Quite the accomplishments.

I agree the fit seems a little off. But to have real success at Temple as Rhule did, I think anything is possible plus it makes less of a chance he ever goes to coach the nits.

I think you are correct and here is why, Baylor was even a lower Bottom Feeder than Temple for over a Century until they got Briles. It was tough to compete with Texas, A&M, OU, Texas Tech, SMU, Houston for Recruits.

Temple was also known for Higher Qualifiers GPA than NCAA sets for all Programs, and all he did was build upon Golden, Addazio, and turn his Recruits into Players surrounded by many Traditional Winning Programs too.

Rhule is a good pick for Baylor and you can bet Baylor's Boosters will get behind him. i still say he will end up at Penn State someday too!

Temple 1995-2006; Prior to Golden, Addazio, Rhule
115 Temple 0.20536
Temple Since 2006:
80 Temple 0.47154 Add 10-2 Wins 2016!

Baylor 1998-2008 Prior to Briles:

114 Baylor 0.26190
Baylor 2008-2015:

29 Baylor 0.63725

Nice Post Slick!

Moorhead can use the temple job to get a better job much easier than using the purdue job too. Purdue is a complete disaster.
Correct. That's why PJ Fleck told Purdue and Cinci no thanks. He may even stay at WMU one more year to let some better jobs come open. Houston would be a perfect next job for him but they apparently aren't interested.

Well, the Lawyers at Pepper Hamilton are still in Texas are they not, and putting in the same Reforms that Louie Freeh put in Penn State when he was working for them.

However, now that South Florida Job opened up, I suspect Recruiting is easier in Florida and a lot Warmer than in Philadelphia. Just another Hunch!

On the other hand, this could have been the Plan all along? But even if wrong, temple has been able to attract Good Coaches in Golden, Addazio, and Rhule, I suspect they will do just as well again.

Not sure I would include Addassio among the "good coaches", but considering that that run was preceeded by the utter futility of Jerry Berndt, Ron Dickerson, and Bobby Wallace, it had to even out eventually

I only added him because he was between Golden and Rhule, but you are correct, he only stayed 2 years and not his Team some of Golden's Players. Also, he has been on the Hot Seat even at BC much more Mediocre compared to Golden who somehow bombed out at Miami, but Rhule is better than both of them.

I think Ruhle is a very special coach and person and Baylor gave him 7 years to Reform, Rebuild, and Resume Top 25 Winning.

When I was in Philly I got to know Wayne Hardin, he did a good job and got Temple Ranked sometimes. But Rhule has been the Best Coach since Henry Miller and Pop Warner. Funny, but Pitt & Temple took a nose dive after 1938-39 once Sutherland left Pitt and Warner left Temple. Most of the Games Miller & Warner won were played in Philly all Homes Games, just 1 or 2 away for Decades. it was easier to do that and have fans come to the Games and media reporting them.
Even Penn State played at Pitt 25 Straight time, just took to long to get to State College.!

Few know it by 1918-1920s Temple had No Team and often no one knew who the Coach was either when they did put a Team together, what Wayne told me in the 1970s.

Wayne was the Coach When Navy beat Pitt in 1963 with Roger the Dodger.
