Pitt’s new on campus football stadium

And you were called out as the flaming, giant moron that you are in that thread. My lord you haven't a clue how things are run at universities.

Ramicone served Pitt for 30 years, starting under Wesley Posvar, helped oversee one of the greatest financial turnarounds in the university's history in his roles...helped grow the university's net assets by $2 billion in 7 years as CFO.

And which member of the leadership team at the time I posted that in 2017 was a Pitt grad? I think it's a totally fair point to raise. You on the other hand are totally ok with more PSU alums on Pitt's own leadership than actual Pitt alumni. Strange take.

So you don't care about the location of the stadium?? Ya think there's room for parking?? No tailgating ??
With all the crazy happenings in college sports NO school should make ANY big project right now.
You're also ignoring Pitt's intention to grow the student body.
The North Shore is now the biggest entertainment space by a big way. Pitt fans bitch about yellow seats. Pretending that we're as big as some other schools is stupid. The current setup is as good as we get.
No way… North Shore blows!

Some Pitt fans that I know who are big into tailgating for Pitt are more into the tailgate than the game -- and sometimes don't even bother to come into the stadium. Or if they do, the 1st quarter is already over.
Let them go root for somebody else… they’re not true Pitt supporters…..

This is a very curious approach.

“Pitt needs to build a stadium on campus to get more people to attend games and be a part of the atmosphere.”

“Any Pitt fan who likes the setup at Acrisure is not a true Pitt fan and should just stay home.”

No …can you read …the point is that folks who are in love with Acrisure because they elevate tailgating over the game and sometimes don’t even go to the game aren’t true supporters…these are the kind of frauds who assail the idea of an on campus stadium which is in the program’s best interests because they subordinate football to partying.

The people who really aren't the true supporters are the ones who have hundreds of millions of dollars ready to give to Pitt for football, but only on their terms and for what they want.

Or, well, those people wouldn't be true supporters if they actually existed.

You’re pretty naive…I’ll leave it at that. Go tailgate!

Why aren’t you also tailgating ?
Are you one of those “protestors “?
Sure I tailgate…enjoy the time with my friends but I won’t dig in my heels opposing an on campus stadium because it MAY decrease my tailgating opportunities, create new traffic issues or otherwise create mythical complications in my game attendance, all of which are subordinate to watching the game in Oakland….where the game belongs…….in a right sized stadium that Pitt owns and runs without interference from Bob Nutting and without all the stadium accoutrements that shout “Steelers.”

Protestors?

So- you’re just talking nonsense .
Start buying acreage to donate !

Clueless….
Then clue us all in. Every time this topic comes up it’s nothing more than people’s fever dreams because they want an on campus stadium. We’ve had everything from renderings close to crayon drawings to “people in the know” saying a stadium is coming or being discussed, but there’s but NOTHING of substance. Zero.

Attendance last Thursday was announced as 47K+ We rarely had that many at our on-campus stadium. If we win, we'll be fine. We've been off campus for 1/4 of a century. I hated tearing down the Stadium, but a large % of our fans never went to a campus stadium. Ain't getting a new stadium.....don't need it.

You have no idea what Pitt is or isn’t getting….let’s start there.

Did you actually go to Pitt Stadium as an adult? If so, where did you park?
And the Rooneys controlled the whole thing. Nutting has little influence if any.

Yes, and never had an issue with parking, traffic…or any of the other yinzer bugaboos. That’s all the opposing static is about…yinzer bugaboos….all of which will be irrelevant and ignored. Rooney won’t be controlling anything in the future.

You probably only went to the Hart games?? Pitt ignored the condition of the Stadium and cut a deal with the IRA bunch. Those bums ignored the public, who put down the vote to make 2 stadiums. Pitt was an afterthought. Still is.

No Hart games…..younger than that. Yes indeed Pitt ignored the condition of the stadium and the myopic chancellor and incompetent AD accepted the Rooney bait hook , line and sinker.

How many vice and associate chancellors do we have? How much money goes into the administration and management of education and healthcare is becoming a huge problem.

Buddy -
I’m not the one who thinks where we play football matters .
Oakland isn’t magic .

What will you go back to doing ?

That's the thing. If you are a Pitt football fan, a real Pitt football fan, then you don't give a rat's arse where Pitt plays their football games. When the games were at Pitt Stadium you went. When the games are at Accrisure you go. You don't have a hissy fit and and withhold your support because you don't like where the games are played. You don't swear off ever going to a game again until they cave in to your demand about where the team plays.

At the end of the day, if you are a Pitt fan you go to the game whether they are playing at Pitt Stadium or Accrisure or if they played at Highmark Stadium or North Allegheny or any place else. Because you are Pitt fan, not a Pitt Stadium fan.

I’ve attended and continue to attend Pitt games wherever they have played ….I’m a die hard supporter so in that sense I don’t give a rat’s ass where they play. But anyone who doesn’ t believe that Pitt ‘s playing in an oversized, Steeler museum on the Northside doesn’t negatively impact the program’s public image and recruiting is living in la la land. So if you are a true Pitt supporter who wants the best for the program you would give a rat’s ass where they play!

And yet somehow Pitt has been more successful at Accrisure than they were in the last couple decades at the stadium in Oakland.

And for that matter, with the exception of the mid-70s to early 80s, when we were buying players with the best of them, as much success generally at Accrisure as we ever had in Pitt Stadium.

I’d just like to point out that this thread is 5 pages long. Nothing quite like an “On-campus stadium” post to stimulate some passion in the fan base.

I have attended games at both places and enjoyed them at both places. I am just grateful the program is still relevant.

In the last couple of decades in Oakland and for most of the last 40 years Pitt played with 2 arms pinned behind their back in the form of lack of institutional support and commitment …that’s not the case today….compare apples to apples.

I want what is best for the program, which is why I don't want a dime or minute wasted on a 2nd rate, small-time sized "on-campus" stadium fantasy. Every dime should be put into NIL or staff salaries.

Hell, I went to gateway high school to watch the spring game like 20 years ago and had a blast!
