Stillers vs. Cards game day thread

Imagine costing your team games, at the professional level, over your insistence on keeping a punter due to his family story.

Every game this year that Pickett has gotten hurt (this is now the third), the offense has went into the tank and the defense has largely been not inspired.

So. Where does this loss rank in Tomlins history of crapping rhe bed. I’d say it’s up there

It is hard to say that they have played that bad though as they have only let up 200 yards. They certainly have not made timely plays and the Cardinals had the benefit of a short field once.

Killebrew makes his third bad special teams play today ... just a really really bad day for a specialist.
For AZ this year I would say today is close to an offensive explosion. After some success early the Steelers just couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down.

Yeah you figure AZ to be heavy heavy run from now on. A lot depends on whether the Steelers have already quit or not, there’s a chance they mail it in and this clock runs down really fast.
You nailed it…..a lot depends on whether the Steelers have already quit.

But even sadder, they probably haven’t quit, they’re just this bad. Some of that has to fall with the coach.

AZ did not have Murray for much of the year. He does make them better.

That said, very disappointing game today. No doubt.

Can’t wait to hear the Mike Tomlinisms after the game

We don’t run away from mediocrity. We embrace it. The standard is the standard
Seems ironic the same folks enjoy and support someone else who rambles with nonsense

Imagine losing at home to a 2-10 team by three touchdowns and retaining your job because you finish 9-8.
Do you realize how many teams fired coaches, because they were sick of being average or not winning a championship, then what happened was instead of taking the next step the franchise went in the opposite direction?

It really is amazing if you research it

I would say high but for Pickett getting hurt. For all of the criticism on Pickett, they are much better with him as compared to Trubisky.

The ownership needs to seriously consider moving on from this coaching staff in the off-season. I disagree with people who say Tomlin is a terrible coach, but the Steelers have been stuck around 9-10 wins for too long now.

I forget the year but there was one against a horrible Raiders team that was incredibly depressing to watch.

They weren’t ready to play and made typical bonehead plays BUT let’s not pretend this team is some overwhelmingly talented juggernaut who strikes fear in opponents

Life's about betting on yourself, man.
I can think of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, who were a playoff team but were never going to become a dynasty with Mark Jackson, and hiring Kerr put them over the top.

Other than that? Way more likely the team in question nosedives. I am talking about 50 years of data

Georgia. The Eagles. I mean there are so many examples in the other direction.

I think they had a similar loss to the Raiders one year some time back. May be mistaken or maybe it was under Cowher.
I think the Raider game was under Tomlin. The one that stands out under Cowher was when the Texans were a lousy expansion team and came into Pittsburgh and beat the crap out of the Steelers.

And every time someone mentions that type of thinking, which is often, it’s just such a loser mentality.

The decision point should always be, do I or don’t I need to make a change in order to reach my goals. It should never be, but I can’t take action because it may make things worse.

The Warriors may have been fine with Jackson, a lot of their ascension was just Curry, Thompson and Green getting older and more experienced. We will never know. Jackson had a lot of other issues that did not play well in the Bay Area (off of the court matters).

Lol uh actually you should always consider whether or not making a change will make things worse. Pitt did that twice within 5 years with Dixon and Wanny
