This is the projectes price for Russell Wilson. Will Rooney pony up the money to keep him, or roll the dice with Fields and possibly a draft pick?
I doubt it is 40. Depending how the next 2 games plays out the top offer should be 2 years, 65 million. This is the projectes price for Russell Wilson. Will Rooney pony up the money to keep him, or roll the dice with Fields and possibly a draft pick?
Wow....they may be better off trading up.Poni said today 30M+. i was discussing this with some buddies. People saying no more than 20 a year. YOu have to look at the salaries of qbs today.
30M a year right now, doesnt even get you in the top 18 of highest paid QBs. i think Mayfield is 18th at 33m. Geno Smith is making 25M a year, Geno freakin smith..
So 30M sounds like a lot but all QBs who arent on rookie deals are getting 30 or more, even bad ones. Darnold is going to get like 45m in the off season..
Personally, i dont think i want Russ. maybe offer 80 mil for 3 years and he says no, roll with Justin Fields. And guess what, even Justin Fields is going to want 25m or more and he literally hasnt even proved that he can throw the ball.
Great point, but man.... picking are so slim that he is gonna get paid, but he may take less to stay.all it takes is one or two poor GMs to over pay a bad QB and it reeks havoc on what the real market value is for qbs. Dak Prescott makes 60m a year lol, dude has never won anything ever.
also as a steeler fan, what options do we have? there are about 2 quality QBs in the draft in a few month and both will be gone before we pick.
I don't know about Fields. He can probably do better than that based on the things you cited regarding QB availability. You could be right though.Wilson is not worth $40 million. I think somewhere between Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield is where he should land. The problem is other than Darnold, Wilson will be the second-best QB on the UFA market and that will artificially inflate his value.
Justin Fields should make no more than $10-15 million on a 1-year prove it deal like Darnold had, IMO.
In what order?I wouldn't even consider giving Wilson a contract offer. I would stick with Fields and use some of those resources to secure a decent wideout, dlineman and corner.
Daniel Jones?!!! The Steelers fanbase would destroy them for that move.Russ will be looking for a big chunk on his last chance of a big contract. No thanks.
I'd rather roll he dice on a Daniel Jones for 1/2 of what Fields will want and sign another offensive player with the difference.

This is the right thing to do. You might end up with the next Tom Brady at some point. You just have to run through Your Stoudts, Bristers, Campbells and Millers until you find the right one.I'd just have a dude on a rookie contract playing QB every season. If you hit the Mahomes/Allen sweepstakes then obviously you have to pay them. But paying guys like Hurts, Prescott, Cousins, Jones, etc. what they're making? My goodness
I couldn't have said it better myself. The franchise is indeed a joke.I wouldn’t spend the money. The team sucks. All that money spent on that pathetic defense and what his it got them? Time for a reset. Don’t blow it on an aging QB. I’d roll with Fields. They’ll win 8-10 games regardless of who is QB…and If fields doesn’t, draft your franchise QB.
And another thing while we are at it. Tomlin should have never traded for Minkah. And with that pick they could have had Herbert.
Joke of a franchise.
Pittsburgh is more than likely the only place in this universe that franchise is considered a joke.I couldn't have said it better myself. The franchise is indeed a joke.
I can think of 27-28 fanbases that could only dream of rooting for a franchise like the Steelers.I couldn't have said it better myself. The franchise is indeed a joke.

You nailed it.It's hilarious that in a town with Pitt and the Pirates, someone would consider the Steelers a joke.
Well, that just might be true. However, this franchise was about superbowls until Tomlin got here. Now it's about being satisfied with 500 or 1 better, and having no shot to win a playoff game. Why pay a qb 40 million when you can get the same result with Duck Hodges?I can think of 27-28 fanbases that could only dream of rooting for a franchise like the Steelers.
I think any poster calling the Steelers franchise a joke is really going out of their way making themselves look like a jokeIt's hilarious that in a town with Pitt and the Pirates, someone would consider the Steelers a joke.
Wait, I got a better idea. Why don't we spend that 40 mil on defense, we don't quite spend enough money on that side of the ball yet? Maybe we can become good enough to make Joe Burrow actually have to hesitate or think a little bit to hang 40 on us.Well, that just might be true. Best available at the time. But you need all three higher ups.In what order?
Well, I would say that Fields is stronger and faster and younger with a better arm. When it comes to reading defenses though, they are the same guy.Do you think there is any difference between Jones and Fields? I don't, other than what they'll be paid.

It's not that simple. Using your numbers, Wilson at $40 mil/yr and they let him run a full offense or Fields at $30 mil/yr running a handcuffed offense? If I'm paying a QB $30 million, they better be throwing the ball and you know Tomlin will not let Fields do that. What is worse? Do you want Wilson 40yr or Fields 30yr. Do we want to be the next Cleveland or Atlanta that locks up a bunch of money in a QB that doesn’t move the needle
Don't hit me with that scrap. Cowher made 6 AFC title games in 15 years. That is what I call superbowl relevant. Granted he didn't win that many, but, he made it there. They have not been to an AFC title game since 2016 and they haven't won a single playoff game since that year. That is what I call irrelevant. You must be another one who is super pleased with a 500 or just better record and maybe a 1st round playoff spanking. As the years pass this team continues to move away from the standard of excellence which was developed under Noll and Cowher and has moved to a standard of mediocrity under Tomlin. This franchise won one Super Bowl in 27 years before Tomlin got here.
That is why this 500 record shit with Tomlin needs to stop. Tank a few years and get some players that can move the needle. You aint getting no Joe Burrow or Justin Jefferson with the 18th to 22nd pick in the 1st round. All the 500 record does is drag this franchise down.all it takes is one or two poor GMs to over pay a bad QB and it reeks havoc on what the real market value is for qbs. Dak Prescott makes 60m a year lol, dude has never won anything ever.
