Chick Fil-A Drive Thru

Do Arbys have drive thrus?

This thread caused enough curiosity in me that I had to give it a try, my only previous experience with a drive thru being as a passenger/hostage. Now that I have tasted both the joy and agony of a Chick Fil A drive thru I feel that I want to broaden my knowledge of culinary delivery systems. Since I don't want to make a political statement, and because I like Horsey Sauce, I have set my sights on Arbys.
Arbys “It’s almost food “

You know there are a few Rax's in Central Ohio? I was out that way and went to one. It was the junkiest fast food place I've ever been to.

As for Arby's, yea their food is really good but they dont have any employees. Usually just like 1 person in the drive thru and 1 person working and people arent waiting 30 minutes in life for that.
I stopped in one and missed the 7:00PM shutdown of the inside room and got in a slooooow drive thru. This in Crammedberry. 2 cars with both drivers "dining" in their cars in the lot. We never go to McD/Wendy's/Booger King/KC/etc. CFA is miles ahead of all of them. Limited menu, but easily the best system. The happy kids working there help a lot. We prefer local joints where possible.

The one in west mifflin down by the old century 3 isn’t bad. The lot is bigger though and down by the road 885, away from the other stores.

There is a Duncan donuts on 51. Real small lot. In mornings, the drive Thur line extends out onto 51. If you aren’t paying attention, kinda easy to rear ended a car.
There are elementary schools where I live that have parents sitting in line for an hour plus on the side of the road and in the middle lane. I declare it a public nuisance and the school should be closed immediately.

really? The school doesnt have a big enough parking lot for cars to drop their kids off? Where in the world do you live? sounds like it's time for a tax increase and new construction for your district

Clyde Street in Oakland is an example of this. If you are not familiar with this, it is a one-way street off of 5th Avenue near PCC that has street parking on both sides. The street also has the Pgh Early Education Center or something like that on it. During morning dropoff and afternoon pickup the traffic from the Center backs 10 cars deep on Clyde, blocking all through traffic, and does not move very fast as each little bugger is personally escorted from their car into the building. I have literally spend 10-15 minutes just sitting on this street trying to get through...and once you turn on it, there is no way out since it's one way.

ouch, yeah i can see this being an issue in a city environment. not much you can do there. i would assume that local ordinances treat a school and a fast food restaurant a little differently with such things as backing up traffic.

That's definitely a public nuisance. Probably nothing can be done this year but if the district is too poor to build extra parking, then they need to restrict the number of car riders. You cant have moms blocking traffic so they can pick Billy up so he doesn't have to ride the bus home. There's a million ways to avoid this:

- have half the kids stay an extra half hour so there is room in the lots for their mom

- have the city start ticketing people stopped on a main road. This is illegal.

Any time traffic is consistently backing up on a main road for people trying get into a parking lot, the business must be cited if they aren't willing to offer any solutions.

In the city, anything goes. But if traffic is at a standstill in suburbia because moms dont want their kids to ride the bus home, that sh!t dont fly

Yeah, blocking traffic to pick up your kid is one thing, picking up a chicken sandwich is something else. It wouldn't matter if it were liberals or conservatives blocking me, I'd be unhappy either way if I couldn't get to work or an appointment.

I live in West Knoxville. The schools were fairly new and filled to capacity instantly. Parking lots aren’t big enough, pick up line extends into main road middle lane and shoulder for morning drop off and afternoon pickup. Thankfully I don’t have to go that way too often. We already have another new school being built to absorb kids from two schools. We are growing rapidly here. Not like Nashville, but growing. I could run a coffee and donut cart and make a killing in the morning.

I am not a fast food afficionodo. I probably have eaten at a Chick Fil A no more than 5 times in my life if that. So what is the complaint again? THeir drive thru lines? Is it longer than McDonald's?

And a loaded question, do people make food choices based on political views??

again, i feel weird being on SMF's side here (Just kidding) but Chick Fil A does have a system in place where they push the pre order app routine. i know most fast food places have apps now but they really created and perfected this system.

The downside is, it's not just a long drive thru line but parking in designated spots waiting for food, combined with their upstream ordering and with a pretty good product, you have cars that jam up lots and roads. This happens a lot.

comparing a typical wendys/McD's drive thru to Chick Fil A is again, not even really comparable. Chick FIl A, you pretty much have to have a game plan ordering there, pre ordering. It's weird but you just cant pull up like a mcD's and just order or you really are screwed... i made the mistake once of doing this. Was in area and told my kids ill pick them up a few sandwiches. dumb me just thought i could drive up, order and go. man was i a fish out of water with this naive approach..

Really? I don't know most of them. Are you?
i'd like to think i wouldnt spend a cent at starbucks because of their far left nonsense but truth be told, i just think their coffee tastes like s**t. the unacceptable amount of fecal matter found in their iced drinks isnt exactly enticing me to go there either.

Honestly -
It’s a huge issue at Dilworth in east liberty since less kids have bussing available .
Of course police were brought in who honestly made the situation worse - driving erratically and screaming at bus drivers .
And of course swearing at people in front of a school - setting a terrible example for kids

You care about the politics of a chain coffee place ?
Weird

I go to Bird on the Run for a better sandwich and far more closer

I personally find that anti gay advocacy gross -
But on a road trip - that goes out there window

it’s fast food .
Some folks delude themselves into thinking it’s better than it is

Again, I am have not eaten there enough is it better than KFC or Popeyes or Bojangles? Or is its popularity rooted in its conservatism? I mean, fried chicken, good fried chicken is a death row meal for me. But never was so motivated to go there over anywhere else.

What? I’ve been in lines there 15 cars deep and it’s taken me 5 minutes. The lines are long because they get people in and out. Let’s punish companies because people like the food and the quick turn around time

You boys do realize that you can order it and have it delivered to your home. You are spending money on gas to get it and don’t have to deal with the lines.

Do you really want some stranger driving around with your food before you eat it?
Unless you live and work on a self sustaining farm, you had better learn to deal with “some stranger” driving around with your food before you eat it.
Seed to table in Naples, FL is fun. But most everything gets shipped multiple times before it ends up in your mouth.
The Chi Chi’s Beaver Valley Mall contamination was traced to unwashed onions from a farm in Mexico. SYSCO shipped it to a Chi Chi’s distribution center before it the onions found their way into salsa made on site.

No it’s good for fast food chicken. If anything, their conservatism hurts their business as does them being closed on Sunday’s but they still remain far above the rest.

As weird as this sounds, I think the lunatic fringe will avoid businesses moreso than they will go to a business if they don’t like the product, if that makes sense.

I am going to have to do a comparison one day. But Chick Fil A, do they do actual whole pieces of chicken or is it all, boneless breast?

I’m gonna get ostracized for this but I still really like a good OL bucket of KFC with some biscuits and gravy.

and no, I don’t eat the whole bucket.
The last time I had KFC (maybe 4 years ago) I noticed that the chicken pieces were VERY small. Almost like half the size of what I expected. They were so small that they looked strange.

The issue is the lines are too lot for the miniature lots they sit on. So traffic gets back up to the main road at some locations or they block entrances to other businesses. If they insist on not raising prices or building more locations, they have to have someone standing outside telling cars their lot is full, to come back another time.
