Georgia Tech Game & Other Dribbles ...

Much as I'd like to win all of the
remaining games, I'd be more than
happy if we won 2 of them. It's
too bad we haven't played BC yet.
Are we even going to play BC?
Two wins against them and one against
WF would be realistic IMO.
At this point I would be happy with two more wins. I think this team has lost confidence and doesn't play with that toughness and edge that it had in our streak. I still think they are giving a mostly solid effort, but, belief and execution are missing. There is no team in this league, at this current time, that I feel confident we would beat.

More concerning than any of this is our 2021 recruiting class, since we don't have one. A class full of reaches is not going to provide the jolt that our returning players will need. Capel needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat. The odds on that are similar to the odds of our team finishing strong.

You do "have to know how to play
them," But...."deeply flawed humans."
Now, we might say they suck and all
that while watching...but "deeply
flawed." LOL That might be a first.
"Deeply Flawed" "Suck Balls" Those are synonymous to me. Lol
But i see your point.

Not sure I agree, John. We have lost 5 of our last 6 and we know about 2nd half tailspins. This team appears to be in another one. They just are not good enough, like DT said.

While past performance is no guarantee for future projections, I would say that while these games are winnable, I don't consider any of them a 50/50 proposition. We are far more likely to go 2-3 or worse than we are to go 3-2 or better.
We could end up in the same boat as the last 2 years, but until it happens, I am not going to say there was no improvement.

John, I agree on the improvement part. Unfortnately for us, the improvement has been confined to the individual level. Certainly Penny, AKC, and especially Horton have progressed this year and Femi has been pretty decent.

On the other hand, our juniors have been pretty inconsistent and our lone senior has been, in a word, awful.

When you add it up, ultimately the team plateaued after the Duke game. One can legitimately question if, as a team, we really did improve. As a team, I see nothing but stagnation. Capel has to expect, and in fact, demand more from XJ and Toney. They should be leaders on and off the floor. They have one more year to make that transition. If they don't, expect more of the same next year.

I don't think he's a notorious flopper to me.
But there's always a game inside the game and looks like we are losing that.
They are losing the respect of refs and the benefit of the doubt.
That shit wouldn't fly with me.
Id be on some Mike Sullivan shit and just tell them to play the game.

They complain about fouls too much and chirp too much. AKC is mugging dudes and then complains like he did nothing. X is cocky, which is a quality I really like, but he needs to control it better. Toney and Femi are similar.

You get nothing out of making a big deal about calls trying to make the refs look wrong. There is a respectful way to complain and make your case. You're better off being respectful. Champ is the only one that plays at all to the refs. He may complain, but he quickly switches to asking for an explanation and then acknowledging.

They have the whistle, play to their ego. Don't be a pain in their ass. Guaranteed it works out better for you.

Ive noticed how Champ talks to the refs. In a cool way.

Also i truly think that's up to the coaches to manage that.

Ive been saying it for over a year about 2021 being weak. Get it straight.

When the 2021 reclass players into 2020 like Kristian Lander, Moussa Cissa, Carter Whitt, Frank Alselem, or Gabe Wiznitzer, struggle all from reclassifying off the top of my head, its telling where that 2021 class sits. None of these players were good enough to reclass and do real damage, including Jeffress this year. Even Adama Sanogo, a player Ive always been very high on and touted as underrated, isnt lighting the college basketball world on fire with his reclass.

To be fair, Cisse is averaging 7 & 7, which is fine for a young big, and I believe Sanogo was just named Big East freshman of the week. There are many reasons why kids reclass up, most of which are developmental. Unless you’re talking about a top 10-ish talent, it really shouldn’t be shocking that a reclass puts up pedestrian numbers off the bat. The real jump occurs in year two when they would be freshmen but already have a year of D1 experience and, most importantly, weight training/skill development. 2021 may end up not being the strongest class at the end of the day, but I don’t think the early returns on guys who jumped up a year are enough to make a sweeping judgement.

This was written nearly a year ago by one of the guys running 247 sports, Evan Daniels, if you dont take my word for it. And this was written before there was a mass exodus of players in 2021 that either reclassed to 2020 or are skipping college altogether. The 2021 class is very weak in general, with high end talent and with overall depth.

"There's no spring, so you're missing out on the spring evaluation period, and that's often times a couple weeks where high school prospects really emerge," 247Sports director of recruiting Evan Daniels said. "This 2021 class was already weak, and we were really looking for some guys to really emerge."

** I'm not going to try to come up with anything clever for this one. The loss is pretty clear and straighforward.

** We simply do not have the talent to make up for problematic errors in a game when they occur. In this game, it was turnovers and terrible offensive execution in the first half.

** And this was indeed a game where the foul line played a deciding role, both with an exceptional performance by Ga Tech and a substandard one by the Panthers.

** A shout out to Ithiel who was exceptional scoring the ball, and his defense continues to improve.

** Beyong that, I wish I had something better or smarter to add.

** I can only hope that we can put some wins together soon, because if we crash for a third straight year under Capel, it's hard to look at that in any positive way,
Wow! It’s like your GT dribbles had a degree of influence from @NTOP ’s Cliff notes. This is kind of like chocolate meeting peanut butter. Well done!

We think alike most of the time. The Cliff Notes began with me trying to break DT of his desire to be a Russian novelist. But I ALWAYS read the Dribbles.
