OT: NBA Playoffs

Well...the perception will change for me. Brooklyn is a brand new built team and wasn't already a championship team without KD.

GSW won the championship and made it to the finals without KD, not the same as Brooklyn.
Fair enough. Agree to disagree.

I’ll agree with you to some extent w/r to GSW and KD, however, KD sure did make GSW all that more difficult to beat. Without KD, I think Lebron and the Cavs would have beaten GSW a second time in 2017. KD made a big difference in that finals relative to the year before.

Nets gave away that game last night. I don't understand how a team with Durant and Kyrie on it had Bruce Brown taking so many shots in the 4th qtr. The guy missed like 4 or 5 layups in a row. They kept running that same play and handing off to Brown for the missed teardrop layup.

I realize the Clippers came back from two down against the Mavs, but that was Luka and a bunch of dudes. The Utah team is, you know, actually pretty good.

Fans of 90s basketball should have loved the rock fight between Milwaukee and Brooklyn last night. I'm not so ready to rule out Milwaukee. But you cannot have Giannis lead your team in 3-pt attempts.

I only saw bits n pieces of the 2 games last night, not enough to get a good flavor of either game.

Then I looked at the stats this morning. One game where the score is in the mid-80’s and both teams shooting % is in the mid to low 30’s. And then the Clippers-Jazz where one shoots 55% and the other mid-40’s %.

Not sure if the Nets-Bucks was all defense or a combination of some bad offense as well.

Definitely some bad offense in that game, on both sides obviously.

I was really rooting for the Bucks last night and I do indeed love rock fights. But it was painful watching Giannis tossing bricks.

Also, I will be surprised if the Bucks win another game.

I saw this on the LeBatard show Twitter feed.

One FT to save your life. Who do you want taking it? Giannis or Ben Simmons?

I love Giannis. Don’t get me wrong.

But it almost felt as if the Bucks won in spite of him last night.

His shooting is still his downfall, and he can be defended with a double team on his drives. In the playoffs, when teams really can game plan against him, he’s almost a problem.

He would likely really be helped with a Chris Paul type point guard.

Nonetheless, the Nets simply missed shots I thought they would make last night. I kinda felt like the Bucks didn’t win it was much as the Nets just didn’t make the plays they normally make to win.

This really should be a 3-0 lead in my opinion.

I guess we will see if the Bucks can make me a poor prognosticator.

When he brings the ball up it totally destroys their entire offense

I'm taking Giannis. He has the better form.

Simmons is a complete mess. He's all over the place and he definitely doesn't want to shoot the ball. I've seen him play hot potato with the ball in order to avoid getting fouled. I don't see how Philly gets far with his as their PG. He's liability in the 4th qtr.

Him taking those 3s was brutal. Otherwise, thought he played very well. Shot around 50% from the floor had what 33 and 14? Judgement seemed a bit harsh. Middleton was the star of the game though for sure

Fair points, and I should confess that I watched the first three quarters of the game somewhat sporadically. I began watching completely attentively around midway through the 3rd quarter. In this time, he scored 11 points.

Overall, though, Giannis scored 7 points in the 4th quarter, and didn't score in the last 7 minutes.

Everyone wants to poop on Simmons because he doesn’t score enough, meanwhile he’s orchestrated the 76ers to the most efficient starting five.

Yeah his free throws are below his season average now, however, in the third quarter when they told him to be more aggressive he absolutely dominated.

Ben is what he is and at the end of the day ill take him over a volume scorer and turnstile on defense anyday.

One more thing, go 76ers.

Simmons is a mess shooting but he can still get 18-8-6 most nights with ease and he is an ELITE defender. I'm happy sticking him on basically anyone in the league.

The Sixers will go as far as Embiid takes them. If he's getting 36, they're in good shape. Ben is maddening at the line but he's basically suffocated Westbrook and now Trae Young.

Embiid had 39pts in gm 1 against the Hawks and they lost.

All I'm saying is that Ben is a liability in the 4th qtr of close games. He can play great defense, but all the opposing team has to do is foul him and place him on the line to stop the Sixers from scoring.

I’m a big sixers fan but they’ll never win it all with Simmons. Period.

I don't follow the Sixers as much as I used to but don't they also have an extremely deep and productive bench? Not saying it makes up for lack of production from a starter but it seems to have served them well in these playoffs.

I think a Sixers-Suns series would be fun.

In game 1, the Hawks shot 43% from 3 and the Sixers had 19 turnovers. They had 21 free throw opportunities and missed 1. Literally everything broke right for them and they barely won after being up by 26. They've been completely suffocated since then, losing the next 2 games by 16 points each.

The Sixers are in good shape in any game as long as Embiid is scoring in the mid-30s and they aren't giving up 20 made three-pointers.

Their bench is fairly average, maybe a bit better than average, but it's not astounding or anything. It's a shooter (Curry), a defensive specialist (Thybulle), a veteran guard who can't score much on his own (Hill), a streaky-shooter combo guard (Shake Milton), Korkmaz, and Dwight Howard.

Korkmaz always looks to be productive when he sees more playing time, no? But yeah, not a bad second unit.

He's very up or down. Not a good defender. His utility is more or less entirely whether he hits 2+ from three, which does happen more times than not but on the nights he goes 0-3 he's basically useless.

I wonder how bad the Irving injury is. Hats off to the Bucks defense. They really made Durant work for his 28. If Kyrie and Harden can't go at 100% this thing is a wrap.

That being said, the Bucks offense just looks so, so, so bad in the post season. If Embiid stays relatively healthy, the Sixers defense should shut down the Bucks pretty easily.

I didn't think it looked bad at all in games 2 through 4 v. the Heat. Actually thought it looked decent yesterday too...

One of the Twitter doctors that I follow for fantasy football purposes said he expects Irving to miss at least a few games.

I have to respect PJ Tucker's game. He's slow, often out sized, totally annoying, and defensively effective against the best scorer in the world. My basketball idol.

I hope so. Never want to see an injury but I don't want to see the Nets succeed. Suns/Jazz/Sixers/Jazz are all largely homegrown teams that have been augmented through free agency. Would be great to have no super teams (destination teams with several superstar players) left in the playoffs.

Agree with this sentiment. Plus, the Sixers always get the injury bad news in the playoffs - both with Simmons and Embiid. Would be nice to be on the other side of that for once.

I'd remove the Sixers from that because of their "process" bullshit. I'd be happy with any of the Bucks, Jazz, Suns winning. Didn't include Atlanta because I don't think they're capable.

Exactly. I can't root for the Sixers. I don't want to see anyone try to validate The Process.
