Harley leaving

How it started: “Harley can’t recruit and our LBers suck. He needs to go.”
How it’s Going: “Pitt won’t pay up for assistants. They aren’t serious about the foosball.”
If Harley is named their defensive coordinator, that "might" be considered a promotion. If Harley is just another assistant there, Harley was told by Narduzzi he better look around.

In either case, my guess is he was told to look around.

The opportunity exists for an impact hire here.

I wouldn't mind seeing him replaced in addition to Whipple.

LB recruiting has been a major disappointment. I think we can do better both in coaching ability and recruiting ability.

He is nowhere close to being the recruiter we were led to expect.

Unless they view him as a candidate to groom to eventually replace Bates, this makes sense. I don’t know if Narduzzi shares your opinion of Harley or not. But even if he likes the job he’s done, Harley has been the LB coach for 6 seasons. Hopefully he is getting a DC job and moving his career along.

With Bates to help with the LBers there should be some continuity whoever they hire.

I disagree but just a tad. If you’re old school and want Lambert in the middle or Butkus I can see that. But they’re bringing in some very swift types that you’ll see soon. I kinda like what they’ve done the past few years.

ACC LB's have to run sideline to sideline and cover RB's. Can't miss tackles. It's an important position in this defense.
