Jaylen Warren - Yikes!

you might want to research how teams' "vote" and how politics still seep into these decisions.

Happens all the time
They didn’t vote for Ben for his first 15 years or whatever it was. They voted for Kenny in his first go around as starter. Talk to me about the politics bro.

How does Mitch coming in instead of Mason go against the fact that a group of players thought Mason was the best of all 3?

Eddie Murphy What GIF by Amazon Prime Video
Because there wasn't any locker room push for Mason. There wasn't any talk of Mason, at all, for 2 years.

You can post all the memes you want and it won't make you super secret info any more real.

For someone who rails on average yinzers not being bright, you sure are looking dumb with comment.

I’m not bright enough to understand what it is you’re talking about. You’ll have to be a bit more specific.

Your validation is a comment from Dulac in February of 2024 that internet bloggers ran with. One of the articles headlines also states: Pittsburgh reportedly has no interest in acquiring outside veteran starter. Clearly guys in the know.

Rudolph was so wanted that he's gone.

Holy Christ, give it up dude. You're trying way too hard.

I'd rather have a Ben whose teammates hate him and can throw for 400 TDs and 60k yards in his career and win 2 titles and is a total a-hole, than a good guy who is loved and respected but can barely play.

Well I made the mistake of doing what so many people do, and that’s bringing up Ben and Kenny in the same sentence. That should never ever be done. Kenny isn’t Ben on and off the field. I think we can all agree. But we also shouldn’t cast Kenny off as a terrible QB and terrible teammate which is what people are weirdly trying to do. That’s the overriding point.

I liken kenny to a basketball game thread where all 5 Pitt players on the floor are playing with an arm tied behind their back and in this example they represent Kenny. They don’t look particularly good, but yet find themselves winning at the first media timeout. They had really sloppy offensive sets but just before the media timeout they went on a mini run and took the lead. And during that media timeout a % of fans are absolutely convinced that the Pitt team sucks, and the pitt beat writer is tweeting during the timeout all kinds of bs anti-pitt propaganda that’s been refuted by multiple sources. That’s where we are with Kenny. We don’t know that he sucks. All that we know is that he played with one arm tied behind his back. Impossible for us to make any determination…other than he’s not Ben. And he’s not Mahomes, Burrow, Allen or Brady.

Using Kaboly as your source shows you everything .
He only knows clogging toilets
Good grief are we really going single out every Pittsburgh media member too that doesn't align with KP? Isn't Alan Saunders a PITT guy? You know, he also confirmed the exact same story that Dulac dropped about KP refusing to dress..

can I ask an honest question - do you own a Pickett jersey?

At this point, I've come to the conclusion that he sucks, I personally have seen enough, I don't believe he is an NFL QB, I won't be upset if he proves me wrong, but I don't really see it coming.

By saying in the post you responded to that we simple don’t know if Kenny is “terrible”? And that he’s not Ben or any of the other elite QBs in the league? If that makes me a fan of Kenny then by that definition I suppose so. And if by taking a measured approach and considering all factors instead, and refraining from casting judgement and then throwing tantrums like a spoiled child because having an all pro QB is a birthright…then I’m guilty.

But in reality, when it comes down to the definition of a fan, I can’t say I am a fan of anyone or any team. That’s not how I view sports. And I don’t dress in cosplay, therefore I don’t own any player jerseys.

Here’s another thing. Do a search on this site of the Steelers/Lions thread from a few years ago. I defended Rudolph strongly because of the team around him, weather conditions, offense, etc…. I took all kinds of heat from people telling me that Mason sucked and is not an NFL QB. Now some of those same people are endorsing Rudolph. Do another search of all the fire Capel threads from a few years ago. I was one of the 2 most vocal pro Jeff Capel people on this site and took all kinds of heat for my support of him. I understood what he was up against. It’s just how I’m built. I’m more grounded than others. I wont apologize for being more analytical and less irrational than others.

I own a Pickett jersey t-shirt, I figured I'd wait until he panned out to get an actual jersey :)

so yeah, I had high hopes and believed, but I think the sample size is enough and I seriously don't believe in his future anymore.

You don't even own any Premier League jersey? Chelsea?

Bought a couple in my life and gave them to my son. One was a Pulisic jersey. But even Lebron wears Pulisic jerseys. Lol. But I can’t bring myself to wear the name of another man on my back. But while not exactly a golf shirt, the right soccer jerseys aren’t as obscene as wearing an nfl, mlb, or nba jersey. That’s just me.

My favorite look though is an oversized nba jersey with jorts.

Ok? I like my football jerseys, I usually only wear them during football season on game days, either that or a team t shirt or hoodie, Pitt games I usually just wear a T shirt or hoodie, depending on the weather. I only own one Pitt jersey, it's a #25 gold one from around 2008, I do own multiple Steelers jerseys, I kind of think I like the jersey, because for most people, including me, you stop playing a sport like football after high school and it's kind of nostalgic to wear a jersey.

What's wrong with believing that both MC and KP weren't very good and there is substantial evidence for both assessments. Maybe this changes in Philly. Maybe Hurts sits out a game or 2 and KP thrives with better talent and a better system. Even though I'd love to see him thrive, I'm going to hold my breath because I've only seen 1 year in the last 7 where KP looked like a good QB.

I don’t think anything is wrong with saying he wasn’t good, provided the context is provided that the whole thing was a shitshow and it started with the coordinator. Weirdly when the coordinators mic was turned off, Kenny and the offense pulled out wins in the 4th quarter. And then when the coordinator was fired, Kenny and Mason were more than fine. Funny how that worked huh? Everything was markedly better when the coordinator wasn’t in the ear of the QBs.

Kenny may turn out to be a career scrub. I just don’t think a lot can be defined from his failed stint here.

There is something to be said about that and I agree.

However, there is a lot of video evidence that O'Sullivan has broken down where it's not the OC's fault and Kenny just doesn't execute whether it's due to pre-snap decision making, post snap decision making, arm strength, touch, etc. He also rips Canada too. He hates a lot of Canada's architecture when it comes to scheme. He hates the lack of IQ the Steelers receivers show in their route running. The OL play he doesn't rip on as harshly as others do because he always says the NFL pocket is a muddy one. It's not like college or HS, the franchise guys execute with pressure regularly.

Here is the million dollar question no one has been able to answer is some of this elementary play design due to Canada's ineptitude or the lack of confidence in Kenny or is it both???

I think the point is that take Canada out of the equation and the rhetoric regarding Kenny is much much different. Even the biggest Kenny media basher in the city acknowledged that Kenny would have looked and played a lot different in the 49er offense. Mind you, Joe yinzers will never be happy unless he’s a HOF Super Bowl winner but Canada was a farce before Kenny was a starter and everyone knew it. It wasn’t just the playbook…it was how he called plays too. No rhyme or reason. Remember football guys were saying there is no sequencing of plays, there is no setting up the defense, there’s nothing. It’s just running plays to run plays like kids do in the school yard.

I'm sure he would've but that's not a guarantee either. They shipped their 1st round guy Lance to the Cowboys because he wasn't very good in the scheme. Jimmy G had mixed results that led to his departure in San Fran as well. That's why I remain adamant that the play caller matters but the QB matters more.

If this is your take on Pickett it demonstrates that you have no clue what you are watching and/or talking about. You must borrow your talking points from fans of our rivals.

Kenny was very good for multiple years and the best player on the team for several years. The numbers were not as good prior to 2021 because his supporting cast was not good.

Everyone in the football world knows this to be the case and it was plainly evident. Kenny was a top 25 prospect on most draft boards (I know of one organization that had him ranked 16th.). When you say he got a 3rd round grade, that is simply false information.

Your propaganda shows that you don't know what you are talking about or have an agenda.

"Very good" is very subjective. Tino Sunseri was a QB most people I think would agree was an average QB. Prior to Kenny's 5th year, he @ his best was basically Tino Sunseri. When was Kenny better then Jaylen Twyman (All American)? He wasn't a better player then Quadree Ollison or Darrin Hall back in 2018. He wasn't better then Jones or Weaver in 2020. I'm not sure in his record breaking season he was actually better then Kancey. Was he better then Addison?

There were teams that were reported had Kenny as the #1 QB but would not have drafted him until round 2 or 3. Kiper reported on this on the day of the draft. It was considered an extremely weak year for QB's.

"The experts had Pickett, Willis, Corral and Ridder in a very tight cluster, all being selected by the end of the second round. If the rest of the league didn’t view these players as nearly as viable as the experts, where did the rest of the league view Pickett? It is hard to imagine the same league that viewed Willis as the No. 86 player considered Pickett 66 picks better." https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2022/05/03/2022-nfl-draft-kenny-pickett-malik-willis/

I have zero agenda. I simply don't care enough about how well a PITT player does in the NFL. I really only care about how they play for PITT.

This horse is beyond dead, lets move on.

How many 4th quarter comebacks did Tino have? Did he have even 1? We expected Tino to fold in college games, and he always did. And with Kenny in the pros we expected him to pull out wins and he often did.

Who thought Kenny was very good prior to his 5th season? Really good QB in college football don't top out at 13 TD's to 9 ints no matter how you slice it... Every draft pundit said this was one of KP's knocks going into the draft in that he only had 1 good year at PITT.

Prior to KP's 5th year, he produced like Tino.

Prior to KP's 5th year, he played in 38 games. In those 38 games, he top 2 TD's in a game only 3x!!!! He averaged 205 yards per game passing. This is "good?"

I have no clue who Steelerswire is other then they're affiliated with USA Today. However, any article or commentary that goes against KP will have you up in arms and you'll question it's validity.
Stop making excuses for his mediocre play..

He might've folded but he also put the ball in the end zone at the same clip KP did prior to KP's 5th year.. That's the whole point of the comparison.

Anybody know why they're saying Justin Fields is going to get the majority of the snaps in OTA's? I would assume you'd want your #1 guy in there mastering the offense and making sure his RB's are running the right routes.
Only a guess - They need to take every opportunity to evaluate Fields and try and determine if he’s a long term answer.

Can’t argue against your logic and it could hurt a little short term if that’s the way it goes.
