Pickens was a second round pick because he didn't play most of his entire senior season in college due to an ACL tear. You still can't see why Pickens was a 2nd round pick despite his talent when he decides he wants to play any given week?
Umm, we kinda did this last year.Just throwing this out there . Pitt tells its heir apparent QB that he’s the man next yr and then bring in a far more accomplished Qb in the portal , are all of you bad mouthing the Steelers badmouthing the Panthers ?
Pickens fell to the 2nd round because he missed 90% of the season at UGA after recovering from ACL surgery. If he doesn't get hurt, he's a top 10 pick. You still can't see why Pickens was a 2nd round pick despite his talent when he decides he wants to play any given week?
You would too with an Oline that resembles the Rockettes.Kenny misses more time than Hurts every year.
The point of the statement is that he had no business being a second round pick and maturity likely had a good deal to do with it even with the injury. You still can't see why Pickens was a 2nd round pick despite his talent when he decides he wants to play any given week?
What an idiotic and misguided example. The difference (at least this year....perhaps they learned their lesson from last year) is they didn't just hand the new shiny guy the job. They are making him earn and prove that he can beat out the incumbent. The biggest problem with the the Steelers is they went about this whole thing in a cowardly way. If they wanted to bench Pickett they should have just done so. The man got hurt, then they jerked him around playing silly mind games like keeping him 1 on the depth chart, but not playing him when healthy. Saying he would start spring at QB1 and talking about this is a huge year for him to prove himself outside of the dysfunction of a Matt Canada offense then denying him the chance to even compete for QB1. Doing all of this behind closed doors mind you in a very sneaky and disingenuous way while in the public trying to portray things far differently and then ultimately not being honest about what they said and did behind closed doors so that they can paint Pickett as some insecure narcissist who they only traded because he "requested it." They finished off they screw job by slamming him and trying to clean it up by having some Steelers personnel (without identifying themself) admit on the record that they didn't do a good job of developing him like that's supposed to make up for the slander. GTFOH. If you can't see this it's because your Black and Gold goggles won't allow you. I'm off this....can't wait till the f'cking season.Just throwing this out there . Teams and businesses at every level need to do what they think is best for their organization and if hurts someone’s feelings that’s just too bad .

No it isn't. The Giants DID NOT offer him the starting job. tomlin did. Don't you think for wilson and his old lady would have preferred the bright lights and big city for their "brands"?Because he compared Pickett to Jones and thought it would be easier to beat out Kenny. It’s pretty simple.
Why is this so hard for people to understand?!No it isn't. The Giants DID NOT offer him the starting job. tomlin did. Don't you think for wilson and his old lady would have preferred the bright lights and big city for their "brands"?

A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion, while not recognizing or acknowledging the distinction.[1] One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man".You must be Kenny’s bud , get over it .
If you think. the Steelers or any objective knowledgeable observer think that KP is a franchise Qb you weren’t watching him play . Mason outplayed him without any first team reps for yrs !
There’s a simple solution for you , root for the Ravens .

There was also a lot of talk about his attitude That impacted his position as wellPickens was a second round pick because he didn't play most of his entire senior season in college due to an ACL tear.
That is what scared a lot of teams off and allowed him to fall to second round. The guy was insanely talented, but the injury kept him down.
Uh noPickens fell to the 2nd round because he missed 90% of the season at UGA after recovering from ACL surgery. If he doesn't get hurt, he's a top 10 pick.
So, you're saying that he never insisted that being named starter was a condition of signing a contract with the Giants or Stillers? And that he picked the Stillers because there was very little competition vis a vis Kenny. Ergo, Wilson fears competition and sought out the easiest "mark" he could find. What a gutless pussy! Seems to me that, within your logic, Kenny is the brave and noble warrior seeking competition at the highest levels, e.g., Jalen Hurts.Nah. He viewed Kenny as the easier mark, especially when Kenny’s own teammates encouraged him to come. His brand isn’t worth a thing if he isn’t starting- so he picked the Steelers.
The discussion is one that neither one of us know the exact details except for what is being speculated by “ insiders. It doesn’t change the fact that the Steelers coaches and executives who know football way better than both of us decided that keeping KP was no longer in their best interest . Had he been someone with franchise potential he’d still be a Steeler no matter what he wanted . If other teams thought he was a potential FQb the price wouldn’t have been a few spots and 7th rounders .
I guess you don’t find it interesting that not one of his teammates has come to his defense and that several star players actually encouraged the signing of Wilson .
The Panthers brought in and paid a handsome NIL last season for a Qb and instantly installed him as their starter over returning players who were most likely told that they have a fair shot at the starting job . See your Panthers did the same thing .
I wouldn’t seek any help for someone charging $25 or finds fault in an organization that wants to better itself .
If you’re going to play amateur shrink try to be consistent. Easier road to starting doesn’t mean there’s no competition. Kenny is the one who tapped out rather than compete. So, you're saying that he never insisted that being named starter was a condition of signing a contract with the Giants or Stillers? If one more of you knuckleheads regurgitates that nonsense that Kenny ran from competing with Wilson.... That is perhaps the greatest character assassination tactic of them all. He was told there would be no competition. If you notice the Steelers have never come out and refuted his claim that he was told there wouldn't be a competition that just casually avoided it, and let all the lap dog reporters do the dirty work. When asked directly Tomlin said." I'm not going to get into what was discussed." On the record no one is willing to say there was actually going to be a competition. The truth is they probably wanted Kenny to take a back seat willingly and "learn from Russ." They most likely planned to decline his fifth year option and offer him some low ball one year prove it deal like they were doing him a favor. The Steelers have been so dishonest about this whole thing and they have avoided hard questions and let reporters paint the narrative. I doubt your willing to concede this, but hypothetically speaking if it finally came out publicly from the Steelers that they wouldn't let Kenny compete for QB1 (which I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to believe because most of you claim Fields is an upgrade over Picket and they aren't even letting him compete 🤔.) would it change your position on his request for a trade? I'm just looking for an honest answer. If you’re going to play amateur shrink try to be consistent. Easier road to starting doesn’t mean there’s no competition. They obviously don't because giving up on a first round pick that they hyped up so much, so quickly, screams incompetence no matter how you feel about Pickett's viability as a starter. They either grossly misjudged the level of talent Pickett was bringing to the table or they don't know how to handle the position. Either way, the franchise looks like a clown show because of how they jerked Ben around the last few years and how they have handled the position since. No one forced Kenny to quit on the Steelers. He decided he was not going to compete. He is a quitter just like he did at Pitt. The Steelers got virtually nothing for Kenny. Compete with what a folding chair? Dear God talking to you people is like talking to a 4 year old. HE WASN'T GETTING A CHANCE TO COMPETE.No one forced Kenny to quit on the Steelers. Is he now??Compete with what a folding chair? Dear God talking to you people is like talking to a 4 year old. HE WASN'T GETTING A CHANCE TO COMPETE.
Clearly the Steelers did because they went out of their way to smear Kenny's name and character. Like a scorned little school girl.Is he now??
He's gone. He asked to be traded and got his wish.
Who cares???
Poor Kenny. Probably cowered in the corner sucking his thumb and clutching his security blanket.Clearly the Steelers did because they went out of their way to smear Kenny's name and character. Like a scorned little school girl.
They've been "attempting to fix some problems and upgrade some key positions" for the last half-dozen years. I mean, if it's just QB play that has been below the line, why pick up a couple off of the trash heap?Hyperbole much??
Franchise is in complete disarray??
A playoff team with a winning record is complete disarray??
They seem to be attempting to fix some problems and upgrade some key positions. QB play has been below the line, so they're moving in a different direction. Hardly disarray...

'Red Flags': NFL Draft Scouts Rip Cowboys WR Prospect George Pickens
A wide receivers coach asserts that Pickens has “just so many red flags, and they’re big red flags.”www.si.com
Maybe, I lean towards saying yes but here’s the thing: Wilson is on a one year deal, even if starting in the pole position transcends into being the starter regardless of camp/preseason performance, if he sucks as so many claim he will once the regular season starts there’s no reason for the Steelers to stick with him throughout, so it still makes it a stupid move. And then, imo, one has to ask why he would make a stupid move. I know what I think, but reasonable people can certainly differ. If one more of you knuckleheads regurgitates that nonsense that Kenny ran from competing with Wilson.... That is perhaps the greatest character assassination tactic of them all. He was told there would be no competition. Better quality trash than what they had? They've been "attempting to fix some problems and upgrade some key positions" for the last half-dozen years. I mean, if it's just QB play that has been below the line, why pick up a couple off of the trash heap?
So Kenny couldn’t beat out the trash heap? Now I’m glad he’s gone. They've been "attempting to fix some problems and upgrade some key positions" for the last half-dozen years. I mean, if it's just QB play that has been below the line, why pick up a couple off of the trash heap?
Look at KP, then look at C.J. Stroud. So Kenny couldn’t beat out the trash heap? Now I’m glad he’s gone.
Stroud wasn't the 1st QB taken.Look at KP, then look at C.J. Stroud.
Both were first QB off the board in their respective draft classes.
Which one is an NFL starting caliber QB?
The difference is obvious.
And Kenny Picketts.Stroud wasn't the 1st QB taken.
There's also a huge difference between 2nd overall and 20th overall.
The Texans also went 11-38-1 over 3 seasons for the right to draft Stroud. There's a pretty significant cost to drafting a top QB and even then it's often a crapshoot. Look at "generational" Trevor Lawrence. Is he even clearly a top 15 QB in the NFL when you add the rookies this year? And for every Lawrence there are 5 Zach Wilsons and Trey Lances.
THIS!Jesus.......can we kill this thread??
